7 Things To Be Thankful For
Simply Seasons

Thanksgiving is right around the corner. It is undoubtedly the start of the most wonderful time of the year. The family, the friends, the hues of orange on the leafs, the laughter, and we can't forget about the mountains of turkey and mashed potatoes, all work together start off the holiday season. I mean who doesn't love thanksgiving? So what better time to be thankful for everything you have... and everything you don't.

1. Be thankful for all the people that love you.

For all your friends and family who you hold a place in their heart, give thanks to them. They have loved you at your weakest and your strongest. Having people to love you and have your back is so incredibly valuable. Be thankful for them.

2. Be thankful for all the people that don't.

It would be unrealistic to expect everyone to love you... or even everyone to love you the way you love them. We all have people who we desperately want to love us but they just can't and that's okay. Love them anyway. Be thankful for them anyway.

3. Be thankful for the beautiful world you live in.

The falling array orange leafs, the sunset on the ocean, the sunrise on the mountains, the beautiful people. All the moments where you looks out the world and the scene just takes your breath away. All the times that you see a human doing something so beautiful that your heart swells twice its size. Be thankful for that.

4. Be thankful when the world you live in isn't so beautiful.

Be sometimes do terrible, destructive, monstrous things. But out of those wretched things comes change and art and unity. Be thankful for that too.

5. Be thankful for all the material things you have.

As much as we hate to admit it, material things are nice to have. Those new clothes, new phone and much more are a luxury that a lot of people don't get. Be thankful for them.

6. Be thankful for all the material things you don't have.

Things are just things and they certainly aren't everything. Your life is far richer with experiences and love and laughter. It's okay to not have the newest everything. That doesn't measure your life worth. Be thankful for that.

7. Be thankful for your life.

Don't compare your life to others because yours is uniquely wonderful. Be thankful you lead the life you do. No one else gets to experience everything that you do. Every path you take, every person you meet, every heartache and love and loss you feel is your own. Be thankful for that.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
