I’m pretty sure we’ve all been there at one semester or another. Looking at the cost of your classes and thinking about all the money that goes into funding your education. Yes, you need your degree for your dream job, but if you didn’t what would you spend your tuition money on?
Thebestschools.org reported the average cost of an in state college bachelor's degree at a public four years university is $22,261.00 a semester. That’s between tuition and fees and room/ board and meal plans. For a private in state university the average cost is $43,289 a semester which includes tuition and fees, and room/ board and meal plans. But imagine the cost for out-of-state tuition! That’s a hefty price a person has to pay a semester to get an education to better themselves. But often times I think of all the things I could spend the money I use for my education on.
1. A Family Vacation.
Every family wants to have a great get away from it all and just spend time relaxing. Either having fun in the Sun or splashing in the crystal blue waters.
2. A Trip to England.
England is amazing to me like no other place. Anyone who knows me knows this fact. I would love to ride big Ben, take a tour of Buckingham palace, experience the most famous England dishes and have tea time in the garden.
3. A Down Payment for a House.
I always wanted a beautiful house with floor to wall to roof glass windows and a deck with a nice view. I would have loved to have my tuition be a down payment for my dream house.
4. An Initial Investment On My First Company.
I've always wanted to own my own bakery or sweet shop. It would be my first company and hopefully one of my biggest accomplishments.
5. A Road Trip.
I've always thought about just getting in the car with my best friends or family. Drive to California, Washington D.C., Seattle, North Dakota South Dakota, New Mexico, New York, Maine, New Hemisphere and come back home. See all the beautiful scenery and get a room when were tired. The best part is there is no specific place in mind. Just the world as our oyster.
6. To Spend a Month in Germany.
Germany is at the top of my list of places to visit and spend some time in. I would love to see the Berliner Dom (Berlin Cathedral), the Berlin Market, the state Opera house, Reichstag and so much more.
7. A Three-Week Cruise.
A long cruise to Honolulu Hawaii, Kauai, Kona, Maui, Hilo, Saint Lucia, Saint Thomas, Antigua you name it. I want to experience it with a smile and an open mind.
8. Start a Shelter For The Homeless.
Not just a place that was thrown together hastily but a place where the homeless could feel at home. Get a hot meal, a place to stay, medical care, help with a job and eventually their own place. My tuition could have paid for the place and run it for a few years hands down.
9. Build a Tiny House and Travel.
I think it's pretty awesome to travel the world but not have to worry about where to live because you have your home with you. Along with all your things and not having to decide what is more important to take with you.
All these things would be more awesome for me to spend my college tuition on, but instead, I opted to get an education first. Go figure.
