Having a big family is one of the most comforting and frustrating parts of my life. There are some things that are experienced within a large family that only those in one could truly understand. So, I have attempted to list all these things out. I hope to bring y'all some laughs and I hope that you can relate.

1. Being heard isn't a thing... unless you yell

Everyone wants to be heard, but the only way to do this without being ignored, is to yell your opinion at the top of your lungs.

2. Your mom will almost never call you by your name on the first try

When your mom tries to get your attention she will go through the list of your siblings from oldest to youngest, (regardless of gender,) your dad's name, and the dog's name. Only then will she realize which one you are.

3. You lose your identity and become "so and so's sister/brother"

Around town when you meet people the only way they recognize you is if they see a resemblance between a sibling and yourself. Then, if you have it really bad people start mistaking you for your siblings.

4. You can complain about your family, but no one else can

Your family can be so annoying, and we will let people know that, but if anyone wants to talk poorly about your siblings it is war.

5. Your house becomes the hang out because what's a few more?

When there are already 20 people in your house on a normal day, what is the big deal if 20 more come on in?

6. You don't know anyone's birthday or age

People will ask you about your family and how old they are. You can never remember how old they are, and if it weren't for Facebook you wouldn't even know their birthday.

7. Getting everybody together is nearly impossible

With a big family, ages are so spread out that some of you are moved out and on your own, and some of you are still in grade school. Schedules almost never align.

8. Family portraits are non-existent

It is impossible to keep everyone from moving, blinking, or complaining, so you just don't take them.

9. Adults and kids always sit separately

Not everyone can fit at one single table. So, adults and kids have to be separated.

10. Mom made anything and everything into a casserole

Enchilada casserole, meatloaf casserole, hamburger casserole and dessert casserole. It is the same thing we ate yesterday, but now it's a casserole.

11. You never have alone time

In the living room your dad is watching TV. In the kitchen, your mom is cooking dinner. In the dining room, your older brother is writing a paper. In the bathroom, your sister is just brushing her hair for what feels like thirty minutes. And in your room, one of them is sitting on your bed waiting to talk.

12. You eat super fast

If you don't eat faster than everyone else, you will not be getting seconds because the food will run out.

13. Your family is always late

Getting everyone ready to go takes longer than the event you are getting ready for.

14. At the end of the day, they are your closest friends

No matter how humorous or annoying these things may be, we love our families. Sure, they are loud, embarrassing and difficult, but that is what makes them great! You never question whether or not they will be there for you because the bond that you have formed is only shared by your family and no one else.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
