The Best Things About October
Hello Giggles

It's officially October, which means that it's officially the best season of the year: fall. Here are some of the best things about this month.

1. The leaves begin to change.

What's better than walking past a pile of leaves on the ground and kicking them around?

2. Pumpkin Spice Lattes

OK, so they've been out for a few weeks now. And yes, we've definitely had more than a few already. But something about October makes it feel even more festive to sip on a PSL while walking across campus.

3. Picking the perfect pumpkin

Although carving jack-o-lanterns is always a fun idea until you actual start. No more pumpkin guts on my hands, please.

4. Sweaters

It's finally cool enough to break out your comfiest knits!

5. "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown"

Every holiday Charlie Brown movie is great, but this one really gets you in the mood for Halloween.

6. "Hocus Pocus"

No explanation needed.

7. "Halloweentown"

8. Any Halloween movie, really.

9. Costume parties

You can go for cute, funny or scary...costume parties are always a fun time.

10. Halloween candy

It doesn't matter if you trick or treat for it, if you swipe it out of the bowl your mom is passing out from or if you buy your own: Halloween candy just tastes better. (Especially the pumpkin shaped Reese's.)

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
