3 Things Mobilians Miss When They Leave for College

As a senior in high school, many people are so ready to leave Mobile when they go to college. But once they do, coming home means being reunited with the city you didn't know you really loved. Getting to eat at the many amazing local restaurants, spend a day on the bay, or celebrate Mardi Gras really makes coming home so much better. Sometimes you just gotta get back to the 251.

1. Foosackly's

The perfect, crispy chicken fingers accompanied by warm, crunchy french fries, a little cup of Foo sauce, and buttery Texas toast. Any Mobile native craves this mouth-watering meal when they leave for college. Luckily, there is a Foosackly's on my way home from school, so that is usually my first stop! Petition to bring Foo to Auburn, anyone??

2. Carpe Diem

Whether it's to meet up with some high school friends or to work on a last minute essay before heading back to school, Carpe is the perfect Mobile coffee shop. The homey feel and smell of delicious coffee make the taste of a blueberry muffin and Alpine Mocha, and the company even better.

3. Being SO close to the beach.

Because Mobile really only has two seasons (Summer and football), visiting the Bay is perfect year round. Being able to drive 20-45 min to spend all day at the beach is seriously a luxury that all college students miss. But it's the perfect place for weekend trip with all of your friends!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
