Best Things To Do When You're Back home

Summer time is the golden word for college students. Schools out, and unless you're taking summer classes, it's the time to party, go out and have some fun.

For those who move away for college, summertime is the period that a lot of students go back home temporarily, or go back to visit family, for a bit.

When I go back home to visit family there are, so many things that I look forward to.

My mom's home cooked meals

I can't emphasize how much I miss my mom's cooking. Although I do my own cooking at home, as a full-time student that works part-time, I don't always have the time to make "gourmet" meals for myself or even eat a delicious meal that isn't just chicken with veggies. Growing up in a Mexican household, my mom always had amazing meals ready for me to devour.

Catching up and hanging out with friends and family

Going away for college, I left most of my close friends back home. It's always a good time to catch up with friends and see where everybody is in life.

Enjoying time with my dog

One of the things I miss so much when I'm away from home is my dog. I miss him the most when I'm stressed out from classes and wish I could just cuddle up with him. As soon as I get home, I run outside to say "hi to him."

Spending time with my parents and siblings

There's nothing more relaxing than just hanging out at home with the people I grew up with and love. I definitely get homesick, so being able to be person to person with my parents and hug them makes me feel very homey.

Though I love the freedom of living on my own (with roommates) and experiencing a new life, there really is no place like home.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
