Dark Circles. Under Eye Bags. The beauty and graces of aging. Or in my case, prematurely existing. I think I can speak on behalf of myself and many other girls with naturally dark under eyes that it has got to be one of the most annoying things to deal with. For all my ladies with a little luggage underneath their eyes, I decided to list some of the things we have to deal with on a daily basis. I’m sure you can relate.
1. Going make-up less is a recipe for disaster
No matter how tired or how lazy I feel, even on my bum days I still have a tendency to slap on that under eye concealer. Although I have no problem with my make-up free face, I just know that somehow, someway, it will be everybody else’s problem. I just do not want to have to listen to people ask me if I am “sick” or “tired” a hundred, billion, trillion times today. Which brings me to my next point…
2. Constantly being asked if you’re “sick or “tired”
I’m fine. I’m completely healthy and well rested. I apologize that my appearance is so unsightly to you that you have to constantly ask me about my all around well-being. Physically I am not sick nor am I tired. However I am sick and tired of the fact that I cannot walk out of my house with a make-up free face without being asked if I am sick or tired!
3. Color corrective make-up doesn’t actually work
For some reason people think that putting yellow underneath your eyes will help cancel out dark circles, but I’d like to beg to differ. This yellow tinted concealer is not blending into the rest of my pale/ivory skin. I literally look even sicker than I did before walking around with yellow under eyes. And the red lipstick “hacks” are honestly just a joke.
4. Treatments don’t actually work either
Every dermatologist, make-up artist, or family member will try and explain some crazy remedy to help relieve your under eyes, but in the end none of them will actually succeed if your eyes are just naturally like that. I have wasted so many precious cucumbers and tea bags on my stupid, baggy eyes. It’s honestly kind of sad.
5. Creasing concealers
No amount of make-up primer or setter will keep your thick layer of under eye concealer from creasing. Just make sure not to sweat, blink, or move your face at all and I’m sure your concealer will sort of, kind of stay put!
6. Just kind of dealing with it
You dark circles are your ultimate frenemy. No matter what you do, it’s a lose situation so in the end you just learn to sort of cope with your pesky little bags. But hey, look at it this way, if you ever want to fake sick, just go make-up less for the day!
