Forget having the excuse, "I'm a teenager." Life in your twenties is supposed to be one of the most adventurous, thrilling times of your life. You grow up and learn to do things on your own. Although this idea sounds utterly terrifying, here are some things that everyone should know how to do before the age of twenty.
1. Cook a meal.
College cafeterias aren’t forever. Thank god. But do we really know how to cook a home cook meal? Home cooked meals are one of the things that often taste exponentially better when you make them yourself.
2. Go out to a nice dinner.
Cut the $40 spent on weekend activities and cheap beer. Go out to a nice dinner.
3. Say how you really feel.
Cut the BS.
3. Learn how to give genuine apologies.
Life is too short to hold grudges, sometimes you just need to let things go.
4. Along with this, admit when you’re wrong.
Because that's the right thing to do.
5. Don’t allow people in your life that are only there when they want to be.
The guy that only texts you at 3 a.m. or the “friend” that only talks to you when they want something. Get rid of the people that don’t actually want to be there.
6. Be educated about what is going on in this world.
We don’t live with our parents anymore. Watch the news and know now what problems are going on in the world. It’s always better to be overeducated than undereducated.
7. Be cultured.
Go to museums, not all are boring. Naked statues are funny sometimes. Watch movies with subtitles and read books.
8. Travel.
Explore the different countries with different food, culture and people while you’re young and have less responsibly.
9. Take pictures.
Not snap chats or selfies to make it seem like you’re having fun. Take pictures of experiences, take pictures of candids of you and your friends having fun in the moment. Wake up early and take a picture of the sunrise.
10. Don’t gossip.
This was only cute in high school. The more sh*t you talk, the dumber you look.
11. Learn how to do things on your own.
Calling your parents crying when you need something doesn’t solve problems. You learn more when you have to do them by yourself.
12. Let go of all the small things.
It's not worth the fight, brush it off.
13. Have funny stories.
Remember, bad decisions make great memories
14. Have a bomb ass signature.
You’ll feel a little better signing a receipt with a dope signature even if you just dropped a couple hundred dollars on those clothes you really didn't need.
15. Have a favorite book.
Read books, not Yik Yak.
16. Learn to appreciate your freedom.
Mid-twenties comes with huge responsibilities: paying your own bills, living own your own and having a serious job after college. Along with freedom comes the ability to do what you love, appreciate being able to do what you love when you want.
