Some people either love country music or hate it, there is rarely an in between. I love it and personally believe everyone should become a fan. In the summer, it is the perfect music to blast while driving with your windows rolled down and wind blowing through your hair.
You will never forget which country song you were first obsessed with. And still to this day you could listen to it and never become tired of it. This genre could easily be named timeless. There have even been a few songs that make comebacks and become popular again after a few years of already being on the radio. Such as "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" by Jake Owen.
Country music is there for you during any stage of your life. The songs are all personal to the writer so chances are whatever they are singing about they have experienced themselves, reassuring listeners they are not alone. Some songs walked you through falling in love and also helped you through those heartbreaks. They also helped you cope with your grandfather's death or moving away from home.
You catch yourself listening to a song and daydreaming about if your life was that song. The love songs are like little fairytale stories. The lyrics describe the kind of love every person wants in a relationship coming into song-form.
You hope you fall in love with someone that talks to you just like the singers talk to their girl in their songs.
The concerts are amazing. Many of your friends who you’ve heard say “country sucks” end up going to a country concert and have the time of their lives. But of course, they justify going by saying it’s only because of the beer.
The concerts also give you an excuse to throw on that flannel and your cowboy boots which are the most comfortable footwear out there.
Country songs can fit any setting. Don't get me wrong, pop and rap are great for parties and working out, but there are some classic country songs out there for parties, such as 'Red Solo Cup' by Toby Keith. The lyrics are also clean so any age can listen to it and sing along.
It reminds us that we are Americans and we should be proud. As Zac Brown Band said it in their song 'Chicken Fried,' “salute the ones who die, the ones who give their life so we don’t have to sacrifice all the things we love, like our chicken fried...” There are a few others that were written specifically to be dedicated to the Navy SEALs (like 'For You' by Keith Urban).
Country music is relatable, innocent, understandable and a huge part of American culture every person should enjoy.
