30 Things That Annoy Me More Than They Should

I'll think of more things that annoy me eventually.

The list of my pet peeves is so long that I probably will need to write another list at some point, but for now, here are 30 things that annoy me so much more than they probably ought to.

1. Being sick

It makes me feel incapable of doing anything.

2. Bowl clinking

If you scrape your spoon on the side of the bowl, I can't marry you.

3. When I’m given the children’s menu at restaurants

Don't look at my mother and ask if I'm allowed to drink coffee with my breakfast. I'm nineteen years old. I make my own decisions.

4. Loud walking

If your heels make too much noise, if your boots squeak, if you’re my loud upstairs neighbor, feel my wrath.

5. When someone doesn’t respond to your email within 24 hours

It’s common courtesy.

6. People who have no opinion

So you mean to tell me you can’t decide if you prefer the mountains or the ocean?

7. Dirty dishes

Somebody, please come clean them for me.

8. People who drive too fast

I hope you get pulled over while I’m watching.

9. My phone dying

Which is almost as bad as…

10. My fiancé’s phone dying

You know you’re going to be on your phone all day. You know it dies outside in the cold. You know it doesn’t last past 4 hours off the charger. Carry a charger with you. Plug it in even if you “didn’t think it would die just because of walking outside.”

11. Ads

Any kind of ads. I want to listen to music on the radio, not ads. I want to watch television on the TV, not ads. I want to visit a website without ads popping up and taking me to different websites that I don’t care about.

12. People who don’t like cats

You must hate happiness.

13. When it takes a professor/TA too long to grade something

If you started grading the exam as students come up to turn it in, maybe it wouldn’t take you so long to finish grading them.

14. Slightly out-of-tune singing

Can you hear that you're off? Do you think that you sound like the singer on the radio? What does that even feel like?

15. People staring at their phones and not responding when I’m talking to them

Are you alive? Or am I boring you to death?

16. Slow Wi-Fi

Yep, campus Wi-Fi, I’m talking to you.

17. When a page in a book is stuck to another page

I bet you can’t read a single book of the Bible without one page sticking to another.

18. Wet paper

The way it just falls apart in my hand gives me the creeps.

19. Loose hair

Showers, floors, counters, shirts, jackets, you name it. It drives me up the wall.

20. Snow in April

Indiana weather kills me.

21. When someone sneezes more than twice in a row

I’m not going to keep saying “bless you” because you don’t deserve to be blessed anymore.

22. People who complain to the waiter/waitress about the food

They only asked how your food was to be polite. They don't actually care that you didn't want butter on your potato. Stop being rude, and eat your food.

23. People who need to know everything that I do

I haven’t talked to you since sophomore year of high school. Don’t hit me up now.

24. When people talk at normal or high volume during a class

I don’t care that your thighs ripped a hole in your leggings this morning. I don’t need to hear about that from 4 rows in front of you.

25. Feeling invisible

Like when I’m driving and a car cuts me off.

26. When people get to the front of the line and don’t know what they want to order yet

“Yeah… Uhm… I’ll uh… Gimme a second…”

27. When one earbud works, but the other doesn’t

You’ve got to be kidding me.

28. People with short attention spans

Okay, I forget why I walked in a room too, but c’mon, I asked you for that drink an hour ago.

29. That one piece of hair that doesn't make it into the braid with the others

Alright, fine. You're going to be stubborn, so I'm just cutting you off.

30. When people ask too many questions or a question that was already answered

This goes for both inside the classroom and out. If someone already asked the question, why weren't you paying attention in the first place? I also can't stand when someone goes to order food and insists on asking about everything. You don't need to know every vegetable in the pico de gallo. Just order it, and if you don't like something, pick it out.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
