As an avid Birkenstock-wearer, I receive countless questions about my shoes. People question whether the high price tag for so-called "Jesus shoes" is justified. I'm here to tell you that these shoes are completely worth the price and are, possibly, the best clothing purchase you could make. Not yet convinced you need to be a Birkenstock-convert? Keep reading and maybe that will change...

1. They last forever.

Now, I haven't completely tested this because I've only been a Birkenstock lover for one year, but there are innumerable stories of people who have religiously worn their pair for 15+ years. Even if you wear the soles of your shoes down significantly, almost every shoe repair shop has the parts to repair them so a pair can last forever.

2. They are super-duper comfortable and mold to your feet.

The Birkenstock footbed supports your feet where they need to be supported. As someone with extremely flat feet, I've always struggled finding comfortable shoes to wear because orthodox and shoes with high arches hurt my feet, but I also needed support. For years, I was under the impression that Birkenstocks weren't made for flat feet because the ones I had tried on hurt my arches—this was before I discovered the soft footbed that is far more supple and cushioning for your feet. Birkenstocks are perfect for flat and archy feet alike because they provide a lot of support, but also mold to your feet in the best way possible.

3. It's easy to be unique.

Although many don the taupe Arizona style sandals, there is a lot of room to have your own look. Although my favorite style is the Arizona, there are plenty more styles with different straps and shapes. Birkenstock boasts that they have over 300 different styles, textures, and colors. You can even choose what width and footbed you want (but soft footbed wins.) And you can also wear cool socks to make them even more special, which brings me to my next point.

4. You get that nice socks and sandals aesthetic. #socks+stocks

Okay, I know people have strong opinions on socks and sandals but it is the best thing ever. Your shoes perfectly showcase your awesome socks and it's just really cute and comfy. Especially with leggings and sweaters. Do it.

5. Praise Jesus.

This is optional and the shoes are not required, just preferred.

6. They're convenient.

You're already wearing socks and have to head out? Slide on those Stocks. Barefoot and don't want to wear closed toed shoes? Birkenstocks. They're honestly the most convenient shoe and are so quick to put on and take off.

6. You can wear them in any and all seasons.

I have been known to wear my Birks through the summer and into the winter. While I don't condone wearing them in the snow because the moisture hurts the cork and leather, I think the shoes are so cute for fall and winter with socks. There are also styles that are shearling lined to keep your feet warm. On the other hand, they can be worn without socks in the summer as an alternative to flip flops. That way you can get maximum use out of your shoes. Pretty cool, isn't it?

7. Everyone will want to be you. Just maybe secretly.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
