You Are Enough

You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.

You Are Enough

To anyone who feels as if they are not enough:

You ARE enough. You are pretty enough. You are smart enough. You are good enough. You are wonderfully and beautifully made. God makes no mistakes and He made you perfect. You can always find a way to overcome. You can always find something that you are so great at. You can always find someone that will love you for you. You can work harder. You will have another day that doesn't suck. You will do better. You will find happiness.

Don't get me wrong, I haven't always been this optimistic. I have been there. I have looked in the mirror and thought of everything that I don't like. I have been sitting at home and then seen a SnapChat of all my friends hanging out and thought why didn't they invite me? I've studied endless hours and still didn't do well on the exam. I have laid on the ground crying because I didn't understand why he didn't love me anymore. Thinking why am I not enough? But what I have learned is I am enough. Sometimes things just weren't meant to be. It is honestly heartbreaking. You're going to want to cry. It is okay to cry. But it is NEVER okay to think that you weren't enough. Anyone that tells you otherwise is wrong. That person is toxic. You should never spend time thinking you aren't good enough. Because you are enough.

But sometimes it is so hard to believe that you're enough. Sometimes it feels as if the whole world is against you. I know how it feels to want to disappear and never come back. But you can't do that. Just because she called you a slut, just because he said terrible lies about you, just because she lies about the kind of person you are, just because you fail one test, and just because you made one mistake does not mean life isn't beautiful. You will have bad days, but that does not mean they will always be bad. Tomorrow could be one of the best days you'll ever have. But you won't know that it is until you get to tomorrow. DON'T give up.

There will always be people that say bad things about you. There will always be people that make you feel stupid. These are the people we should steer clear of. They will make you think that you aren't enough. Rid yourself of these people and surround yourself with people that constantly remind you of how great you really are. People that bring you up instead of tearing you down. People that will be there for you when you don't feel as if you are enough. Never forget that "You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you." Song of Solomon 4:7 (NIV)

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
