Rejoice, gamers! BlizzCon 2016 is approaching! And fast!
For those never having heard of this event, a brief visit to https://blizzcon.com/en-us/event-info describes the following:
BlizzCon is an epic celebration of Blizzard Entertainment's game universes and the communities that bring them to life. This year marks the 10th BlizzCon and Blizzard’s 25th anniversary—we’d love for you to join us in celebrating these milestones together on Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5, 2016.
In a sense, that's most of what you'll need to know if you plan on casually reading about it after the fact, or even if you or someone you know will either be attending in person or has purchased a virtual ticket.
However, as an avid fan of Blizzard's games, primarily Overwatch and Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, I'll be teetering on the edge of my seat for two particular announcements:
1. Sombra for Overwatch
2. Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft's next expansion
In short, Sombra is a long-awaited (and long, long teased) character to appear in the 2016 team shooter. The first character to be revealed after the initial launch was Ana, a sharpshooter and mother with a tragic backstory and a current need to heal allies with her trademark rifle. A recent (and only alleged) leak for Sombra did "reveal" a submachine gun-clad stealth femme fatale by the looks of it, but only time will tell to see what will really be, well, real.
The Hearthstone news, on the other hand, is less shrouded in mystery and more so just a clock ticking down. Every year, the game releases one adventure for players to blaze through, releasing mostly neutral cards along the way, and also the annual expansion, a much heftier update where cards by the masses, class and neutral cards, eventually become available by the packs for players to dive into. This allows new deck archetypes to form, and it overall changes the very meta of the game.
These are what I'm personally waiting for, but plenty of other things will pop up in terms of Blizzard's other acclaimed gaming titles, convention events, a benefit dinner, contests, and more.
