The Wait

"I am sure that God keeps no one waiting unless he sees that it is good for him to wait." - C.S. Lewis

I keep a little journal of quotes that I've read or heard over the past few years. Before writing today, I went through the journal and read through hundreds of different colored words scribbled in multi-color pens until I came across a pink highlighted C.S Lewis quote. As I read it, I began to think that our human nature is being a slight know-it-all. You know, like the little kid we all had in our elementary class who had something to say about everything and an answer to every question. Sometimes we think we know what is best for us. We think we know who we need and don't need in our lives. We think we know what we should be doing and where we're going, but boy does God have other plans for us.

I will be the first to admit that patience has never been a strong suit of mine (along with driving, making smoothies, math and a couple other hundred other things). Whether it was waiting for the cookies to be ready, when I was little or last week, waiting at Apple for my laptop to be fixed.

I think we just want to know that everything will be OK.

We just wanna know that we will end up where we are meant to and with who we are meant to be with. If I have learned anything over the past few years, it's to leave room for the unexpected moments. Someone once said that the unexpected moment is always sweeter (and I, of course, forget who said it). I think that it's partially true because when things happen so quickly, we don't have time to overthink or overanalyze. We just have time to go with it and take it where it leads us.

Someone taught me to take the moment for what it is worth at that moment.

That person taught me not think about the next day, the next week or the next month. They taught me to stop trying to pre-plan every aspect of my life– something I became almost too good at. They taught me to take what comes and to go wherever it leads you because that is where you are meant to be, no matter how many times you over-analyze it. Even though that person is not in my life the same way anymore, the lesson still is, and therefore, I think that person always will be too.

We must know in our hearts that our God has this beautiful plan for us, and He has so many beautiful moments that we cannot even fathom lined up. He has so many amazing people that will fall into and touch our lives in ways we cannot imagine. He has created lives that we will have the opportunity to touch and change forever. We must be willing to give every single aspect of our life to Him. It is such a scary but beautiful thing, throwing your hands into the air and letting God be in complete control.

C.S Lewis reminds readers that when the time comes, we will realize the importance of the pain, the importance of patience and the importance of the wait. Everything is in God's timing.

So I urge whoever reads this to keep waiting. Keep waiting, because you have a Father who is planning such big things for you. You will soon understand the wait because this waiting period is just a way of preparing you for all the great things you will soon do. And I will be praying for patience and strength for you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
