My empty, neglected suitcase that lies in the corner of my room only serves as the barrier which separates me from eternal happiness. Dramatic, I know. Clearly these strong feelings come from the deep dark places of my past.
For example, I took a strange family vacation to Vegas where I found myself at Duane Reade with my dad at 1 a.m. buying underwear for my brother who forgot to pack it. I left my favorite stuffed bunny (whose name is also Bunny) at a hotel and made my entire family drive back to retrieve it. Let's not forget the time I took a weekend trip to the lake and forgot my bathing suit...
If you can relate even just a little bit to the previous stories, have no fear: you are not alone. The following are some quotes I've gathered from my peers. Let them speak for themselves.
"I never know what to pack so I bring everything. Even if I'm going somewhere cold I pack a bathing suit. Ya never know what you're going to be doing!" — Female, 20.
" Packing gives me a false sense of knowing how to adult." — Female, 20.
"Packing: the first taste of and the biggest barrier of a new adventure... I also forgot my camera when I went to Ghana, you're welcome." — Female, 19.
"Packing is stressful because you never want to forget anything important...like underwear." — Female, 19.
"The frowning emoji. That's how I feel." — Female, 20.
"Packing sucks, it makes me sweaty and tired... Also, I went to visit my brother for parents' weekend in Minnesota and forgot underwear." — Female, 20.
"How much I enjoy packing directly correlates with what I'm packing my belongings into. A giant ugly duffle bag is a horrible experience, but a cute weekend tote can be a fun little task." — Female, 20.
Lesson learned: People, pack your underwear.
Also, if you ever want to make a new friend or just spice up a boring conversation, bring up your packing struggles. I guarantee positive results.
