We are your sons and your daughters, your nieces and nephews, and your grandchildren. We populate your schools and your neighborhoods. We were born in the 90's and grew up in a society that was shaped by the rise of technology and one of the most severe economic recessions in history. We work for you now, but eventually, you will work for us. We are tomorrows future. We are Generation Z.
And as tomorrows future, it is our duty to be well informed about political and social issues going on in our country. Personally speaking, I find politics to be very interesting. I love being of age to vote because I have the opportunity to help shape the future of our country's government. And while I understand that not everyone shares my keen interest for politics, it still shocks me how so many of my peers couldn't care any less about it.
As the 2016 presidential election continues to approach, we should be well informed with the potential presidential candidates as well as the social and political issues that we face in todays society, but a large percentage of Gen Z is not. This is a conflicting issue because our voice as a generation continues to go unheard and unnoticed. How can we progress into a better and brighter future if we are not in tune with issues going on in our country?
I know that many are discouraged from participating in the election process of our country's next leader because they think that their voice will not make a difference and that is where they are wrong! It is our duty to vote! We cannot shape nor improve our government or our country's economy if we do not vote. We have to stand up and fight for the future we want for tomorrow. United, our voice can be the change we want to see for our country.
