Going into this past semester knowing that it would be my last for a while since the next will be spent abroad, I knew I had to do my best to make it a good one. Rather than reliving the same events every weekend full of daging and lazy Sundays here at Delaware, I used this semester to embark on the college tour of a lifetime. Since September, I have visited Syracuse, Elon, Maryland, DC, and Wisconsin… Oh and of course had to make a trip home to Boston to see my dog (and parents).
It was like college touring as a nervous and uninformed high school student again, but without the pressure to make the huge decision as to where I will be spending the next four years of my life. This time was all about having as much fun as I possibly could, and squeezing in a visit with my friends that I may not see for five months. Being able to look forward to a whole weekend with friends from high school and overnight camp gave me so much more motivation to get through the never-ending school weeks.
Each college visit on this ultimate college tour was nothing like the other. Between the famous restaurants in each city we just could not miss out on, the themed parties in a totally different environment than I was used to, and running into so many people that I just don’t spend enough time with, I would not have changed a thing about how I spent my weekends away.
As you all know, Delaware is in no way a school that revolves around early Saturday morning tailgates filled with school spirit, so it was nice to experience this at some other schools. Dates here in Newark are great and all (if they can withstand the police), but I believe it’s always good to change things up in the world of binge drinking cheap vodka and low quality beer.
This semester may have been filled with hours and hours of long drives, flights, and eating way more than I ever should in a weekend, but it was most definitely worth it. There’s nothing like looking back at how big my smile was in the pictures from the Wisconsin tailgate, or the crazy adventures I went on with one of my best friends at Syracuse, just adding to our pool of memories.
