It takes a lot of work to write an essay. It's a long road, with multiple twists and turns that all lead to one destination: getting a good grade. Each stage in writing an essay is accompanied by a diversity of trials and tribulations, each of which can be highlighted by song lyrics. Read along to find which song lyrics should accompany you on each stage of your essay-writing journey.
Stage 1: Procrastinating
“Today I don't feel like doing anything." – Bruno Mars
It is in this stage of writing the essay, stage one, that you haven't actually begun the process of writing the essay. The task is just too daunting for you, and instead of facing the challenge you decide to put it off until the last minute. In the wise words of Bruno Mars, you just don't feel like doing anything.
Stage 2: Searching for a thesis
“Hello! Is it me you're looking for?" – Lionel Richie
So you've finally decided to sit down and start writing that essay. However, there's just one problem. You can't come up with a thesis, the basis of your entire paper. For whatever reason, that pesky thesis is eluding you, leading you on a heart-wrenching search. You see that thesis inside your mind; it's all you've ever wanted. But does it want you back? It leads you to ask the question “Hello! Is it me you're looking for?"
Stage 3: Finding inspiration
“Never gonna give you up." – Rick Astley
Finally you've secured that oh-so-important thesis. It's brilliant, bound to get you an A! Or, it's decent enough to get you a passing grade. However great it is, the point is that you have it. And you're never gonna give it up.
Stage 4: Hitting a dead end
“Say something I'm giving up on you." – A Great Big World
You were doing so well. You found that brilliant thesis and started writing the paper. Though for whatever reason, now you've hit a blank wall. That beautiful thesis suddenly doesn't seem so beautiful anymore. You can't figure out what to write in support of it, and everything's seems to be going wrong. That essay better say something, or else you're giving up on it.
Stage 5: Toughing it out
“It's the eye of the tiger, it's the thrill of the fight. Rising up to the challenge of our rivals." – Survivor.
Though you've hit a dead end, you decide to push through. That essay isn't going to write itself. No matter how badly you feel about it, you must keep writing. You push your reservations aside, head back on that street, and rise up to the challenge that is finishing that essay.
Stage 6: Victory
“We are the champions, my friends." – Queen
You've done it. No matter what mistakes and errors you made, you have finished writing you essay. You've gone through the ringer and came out a champion. Congratulations. Now you just have to wait to find out what grade you got on it…
