My family is absolutely huge! Within the past years we've gone from four cousins to now nine, not including the cousins that aren't actually related to us but we qualify them as family. When there were just six of us, our parents decided to get us to make Christmas videos for our grandparents--a fun gift of sorts. Well, they came back to haunt us this season...
1. Denial
You think they're kidding. Old videos? From when I was like nine? No way. Those were definitely locked away in the Disney Vault, and that's sealed forever I heard.
2. Embarrassment
No, they weren't lying. The vault was opened...It's the real thing and it's being loaded into the DVD player. You shield your eyes, as if that does anything. Remember, you were four in this one, you've changed, hopefully.
3. Anger
Which one of your aunts made you do this? Because that woman is not getting a Christmas gift this year!
4. Regret
At least this is the point where things start to take a turn. I mean, you can't really regret something you were forced to do on camera...or even do at all.
5. Laughter
After a few minutes, you finally get over yourself and start laughing at your cousins and even yourself. You're running in circles and singing Christmas songs that you are positive you didn't even know the words to back then. Oh, and here comes your dad, pretending to be a kid, with shoes on his knees.
6. Tears
There is no way this is happening. At this point, we've gotten past laughter and we are now crying. You realize you basically invented The Whip, Gangnam Style, and enjoyed high-kicking to "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer." Your cousin had ugly glasses, your brother fell out of a chair, you thought you were all that and a bag of chips, and just no. You weren't.
7. Quoting
The famous video quote in my family is from my dad pretending to be a Shepherd and saying "I see a star" in his best kid voice. We've said it for years but finally got to see it on tape, making the joke even better.
8. Bonding
Everyone has tears running down their faces and the DVD is done. You can't believe that you wish it didn't end. It's crazy to watch yourself and your family grow up on tape...and see your mom's hands in the frame "conducting" as you ignore her and whip your pony back and forth like the rockstar you are.
