Music's Influence on Society

What does it mean to feel music? We have all been listening to music for as long as we can remember. We listen to countless hours of songs by many different artists throughout our lives. But those few artists and those few songs that give you chills, make your heart feel a different way than before, those are the songs that count.

Whether it’s the lyrics, or the drop of the bass, or the chord structure, something about that song stood out from the rest. The adrenaline pumping feeling, that irreplaceable rush is one we crave as we sort through other songs looking for the same reaction.

As we age and grow wiser, experience more and learn about different aspects of life involving love and stress, lyrics start to mean more to us. We could know a song for years but not truly understand the meaning of the lyrics until we mature to the point where we can relate.

Music helps us find an understanding within the world we live in. Our world and our society is incredibly complex and often leaves us confused and lost. Music helps us pull through, helps us find meaning in these confusing moments, and helps us back on to the right path to find sanity. Music is a way to save people.

When we have a rough day, need to relax and find comfort, or to just have a great night with friends, most of us turn to music. It allows us to put meaning and explanation to hard times, and allows us to create wonderful memories with those closest to us.

We connect songs to personal memories such as weddings, special people in our lives, and certain moments we do not want to forget. Music is a way to deal with, accept, and let go of events that we have experienced. It will always be a significant part of our culture and what binds us together.

Music has evolved through many ages and has transformed as our society has transformed. We have evolved through and with our music, and our culture would not survive without melody.

Music ignites a certain part of our souls that no other substance on Earth can. It helps us reach an understanding of ourselves that we cannot get from anyone or anything else. Music connects people from various types of backgrounds to appreciate an exquisite art form.

At concerts, people who have never seen each other and who have come from different areas join together to appreciate a group that has affected an incredibly diverse group of people in the same way. That is something purely beautiful.

The sound of music is a silent force. Force does not necessarily mean brutal. Lyrics and chords have the ability to produce something incredible. They have the ability to produce something world-changing. We cannot let this force die out into songs that have no true meaning. The music industry is slowly starting to crumble and we cannot let it fall apart.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
