Throughout the day, we have several things that we come across that just push a button. Next thing you know, these things are starting to build up and ruin your day! Our days start to become stressful and once we get stressed, our focus and attitudes start to decline. Here are some things we see throughout the day that build up our "awful" day that really shouldn’t.

1. The Slow Driver

We get it. No one likes the person that goes 45 in a 55. But in reality, what can you do about it? Just be patient. Until you reach an area that you can legally pass, take a minute to enjoy the scenery. Yeah, we can be late sometimes to where ever we are going, but you cannot control another driver and attempting to get around a slow driver when you’re not supposed to IS NOT worth the risk of getting seriously hurt.

2. The Internet Isn’t Working

WHOOOO, YOU MADE IT! That 10-page essay assignment is finally done! Then, all of a sudden your internet stops working. How stressful! But really, the only thing you can do about it is to follow the directions your internet provider gives you. This is the fastest way to get it up and running. Just try to stay calm and collected and it should be over before you know it.

3. That Person That Doesn’t Know What Personal Space Is

Sitting in rooms with limited seating is a task in itself. Where do you sit? Who will you choose to sit next to? There is almost nothing worse than sitting next to a person who can’t seem to stay in her/his own space. They breathe on you, they touch you (something I can't stand), they take up your arm space... but what can you really do?

Simply ask them to condense their belongings a little (in a nice way) or you could simply pick another spot. You cannot control another person and their actions. So don’t let someone else make your hour lecture or business meeting a drag. Let it gooo (word choice credits to Queen Elsa.)

4. Your Significant Other

Let’s be honest, marriage isn’t really fair. You are going to be living with the same person, in the same house, every day for the rest of your life.

But, also being honest, you literally signed up for it. There will be days when their presence just annoys you and their voice pierces your ears. It really is okay to tell your significant other that you just need a day to yourself. Girls, go get your nails done.

Guys, go to the gun range. Not everything you do HAS to be with your significant other. Heck, my parents used to take a week apart and come back refreshed. Your significant other is the other half of your team, don’t push them away. Just take a day to yourself and come back refreshed and ready to give some love!

5. When Things Don't Pan Out Like They Should

Face it, nothing in life will EVER pan out like it is supposed to. I planned my wedding for months. Absolutely nothing went according to schedule, let alone everyday life. If you’re late, you’re late. If you didn't deal with the best client/customer that day, let that client/customer walk out. If you didn't get paid like you were supposed to, go to the person that writes your checks and ask about it.

There are a lot more things that happen during our day that just irritates us to no end. They build up as the day progresses and by the end of your day, you're ready to quit. I’m not saying that you can never be mad a day in your life. I’m saying that there are things that happen during the day that we should brush off and move on from. The simple things shouldn’t make a good day turn to shit.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
