The most famous peak in the world is Mt. Everest. Within the last week, for the first time in two years people have sent the summit. Everest has seen many deaths in the past years, making those who stood at the literal top of the world's glory even greater. But, did you know there are six other world famous summits? Mt. Everest may be the highest of them all, but there is a greater feat than reaching the top of the world. That feat is ascending all seven summits. The seven summits are the collection of the highest peaks on each continent. This list will reveal to you each of these peaks -- lowest to highest.
1. Carstensz Pyramid, New Guinea -- 16,023 feet
Carstensz Pyramid's peaks spur out from the rainforest below. This is one of the mildest climbs of all the seven summits. After getting to the base of the mountain you will trek through the rainforest, then you will climb up to the summit and look down over the beautiful lands of New Guinea.
2. Mt. Vinson, Antarctica -- 16, 067 feet
Though Mt. Vinson may be the second smallest peak of the seven summits; it is the least explored. Mt. Vinson is the highest peak of Antarctica, making getting to the foot of the mountain an adventure in itself. Picture yourself standing at the top of Antarctica -- being the least explored means that it is the most pristine.
3. Mt. Elbrus, Russia -- 18,510 feet
Mt. Elbrus is nestled in the heart of Russia. The peaks of Mt. Elbrus rise up from the plains. Climbing up the Elbrus allows you to see the beauty of Russia's heartland.
4. Kilimanjaro, Tanzania -- 19,340 feet
When you think of Africa, you think of unbearable heat, right? Well, that's where you will start on your trek to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro; however, as you climb higher and higher, you will meet the glacier caps that top the highest point in Africa.
5. Denali, United States -- 20,310 feet
The United States has many mountain ranges that offer beautiful views, but Alaska offers the most beautiful mountain - Denali. Denali's location in one of the most untouched places in the United States allows for its beauty. Climb to the top of North America by reaching the glacier covered peaks of Denali.
6. Aconcagua, Argentina -- 22,841 feet
Getting to Aconcagua starts with a trek through the Andes. After going through the heart of Vacas Valley, you'll reach the the foot of the mountain. The climb to the top is relatively easy, but the climb to each ascent of the summit may be different because of the weather and the overall height.
7. Mt. Everest, Nepal -- 29,029 feet
The famed Mt. Everest. Its height is nearly five and half miles high in the sky; it's the highest point in the entire world and people manage to climb to the top. This mountain is seeing more and more attention, but the glory in getting to the top will never be taken away by the popularity. Ascending the summit of Mt. Everest is standing at the literal top of the world.
