Being the youngest in a family can be a blessing and a curse, especially if you're separated by more than just a few years. You may be picked on, but you know deep down that it is just a rite of passage that only the oldest did not have to go through since they had to deal with mom and dad alone for x amount of years.
The Cons
1. The early bedtimes
This is the one I always hated. Being about three years younger than my next closest siblings, and seven from the oldest, whenever we were all watching TV I would be the one told to go to bed in the middle of the movie, and would think of any excuse to not have to go up.
2. Being ignored
This one I'm sure we all had to deal with at least once on that long car ride to the beach, or any other vacation, where your other siblings are behind you talking and having a good time, but will not let you in on their conversation because "you're too young, and you wouldn't understand whats going on."
3. Constantly playing catch-up
Watching them all get their first cars, or being able to come back with friends and drink at the house, all while you're sitting there with what feels like a tricycle and a juice box, just wishing you were older and you could be invited to go out with them just for a little bit.
4. Waiting your turn
When you have to wait for them to finish their fifth turn before you get yours, but you know the second that you lost your first life, they consider that your turn, and take the controller back.
5. "No, we are going to watch this!"
Always having to watch what they want to watch.
The Pros
7. Playing the "baby-card"
I mean, mom always says you are her favorite and her baby, so why not milk it for a little bit, and try to get every favorable answer you can from your parents?
8. You're more knowledgable
Since you are the youngest, you get to hear about all of the experiences your siblings went through, and what advice they give you to help you along the way.
9. They always have your back.
For as long as I can remember, there have been plenty of times when I've had my older brothers and sister come to my aid in random situations. Even when they know I can handle it myself, they feel like they should be there for me.
10. You'll always have someone to talk to.
Just like number seven. Since they've most likely been through a similar situation, you always can talk to them and see what they recommend you do.
11. They'll love you no matter what.
I mean, you're family, right? And no matter what you do, they'll always be there for you.
