Movies can say a lot about a person. When you ask someone about their favorite movies, their answer usually provides a pretty clear picture of who they are and what they’re like.
So when Hilary Clinton says "Wizard of Oz" is one of her favorite movies, my only thought is that she’s trying to sucker up to Rotten Tomatoes. Of course, she could genuinely enjoy the movie, and might even see herself as Dorothy traveling through Oz as she herself campaigns through the U.S.
Or maybe she sees herself as the Wicked Witch of the West, and the Bernie campaign is about to splash cold water all over her while she’s screaming that she’s melting.
But Hilary is not the only candidate to put herself in the spotlight. Each of the candidates has their own favorite movies, and each of them says a little bit about themselves.
Donald Trump
Donald Trump said that his favorite films include "Citizen Kane," "The Godfather," "Goodfellas," and "Gone With The Wind." It would seem he’s having trouble sticking to just one film, just like he does with his political views.
Another one of his favorites is "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly," which is perfect because it’s about a white cowboy that beats up Mexican bandits, a habit Trump performs before taking the stage for his speeches.
Bernie Sanders
Hilary Clinton
Besides "Wizard of Oz," Saint Hilary has also named "Casablanca" and "Out of Africa" as some of her favorite movies. Since all of these take place outside of America, I’m thinking that she’s dreaming of some faraway magical world where she doesn’t have to worry about political candidates and speeches. Who knows? Maybe she’s dreaming of Goldman Sachs.
Ted Cruz
Now here’s a weird one. Ted Cruz said that his favorite movie is "The Princess Bride." This is especially strange because we all know that he loves it when people talk about him. You would reasonably assume that he would name his biography picture "Zodiac" as his favorite movie.
No wait, I understand. He probably sees Wesley and the Princess and is reminded of some of his victims from the 1960’s. It probably brings him good memories of ruining other people’s lives.
John Kasich
Now this is just awesome. Kasich’s inner rock star came out when he said that his favorite movie is Jack Black’s "School of Rock." Can’t you just imagine Kasich jamming out with Black to Led Zeppelin while watching the movie? Kasich is officially my new favorite presidential candidate.
