The One About Things to Look Forward to After Finals

We all know how stressful finals week is and if you’re like me, you worry way too much about school! But, luckily this will all be over in a week. I am looking forward to a lot of sleeping, eating bagels and pizza, and hanging out with friends. Here are some things that we all have to look forward to after finals:

1. Family

I am never one to get sappy over missing my family, but I actually do! I love being on my own and feeling independent, but the holiday season is not the same without my family. I'm looking forward to picking out our Christmas tree and decorating it as soon as I get home. I can’t wait to see the house all decorated and to have Christmas music blasting 24/7. I am also looking forward to a well deserved month and a half off from school!

2. Dogs

Snuggles from humans are not the same as cuddling with a puppy. My dog is either running around like crazy or sleeping, so I am excited to be able to relax with her. Leaving for school freshman year was really hard because we had just got Lucy, so I feel like I am constantly missing out on her life. I can not wait to be home and receive endless amount of love from the cutest dog in the whole world while I lay on the couch all day and binge watch The Walking Dead. Maybe if we’re lucky there will be a Harry Potter weekend soon too!

3. Holidays

The Christmas season is not the same when you have hundreds of tests to study for. The lead up to Christmas is one of the best feelings ever. I love spending time with my sisters, decorating the tree, wrapping gifts, and keeping up with our family tradition of watching Muppet Family Christmas on Christmas Eve. The only Christmas vibe here at Cortland is the snow we get everyday. Hopefully we get a White Christmas back on Long Island.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
