The Types Of People You Meet In High School

What we know of other people is only our memory of the moments during which we knew them.

The Types Of People You Meet In High School

As a recent high school graduate, I can't help but ponder on the numerous and diverse types of people I've encountered throughout my four years. Some acknowledging day in and day out, and others only meeting once. Some people are fantastic while others... not so fantastic. I generally don't like to stereotype people, because I understand that no one should judge a book by its cover, and everyone is unique in their own way, even if they try their hardest to fit into the mold and the status quo. However, listening to others tell their high school experiences along with mine, I can't help but notice that some types of people are in every high school all together, they made the past four years interesting with their memories. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that unless you went to a different type of high school, or were home schooled, you have come in contact with these types of people one way or another.

Let me clarify, this is NOT a bad thing. Some of these people are insanely cool. Granted, some of them are the absolute worst, but there are highs and lows in everybody's life, right?

Here are some of the people you might meet in high school:

The over achiever who does EVERYTHING and makes you feel awful about yourself.

The jock who plays mostly all the sports, is classified as "super cute", kind of acts like a jerk, except he is generally nice at times. Most importantly...absolutely clueless.

The energized kid who causes trouble and makes everyone laugh even though they are the most annoying person you've ever met.

The 'hip' squad that thinks they are way too cool for everyone in school and tries to look bored 24/7.

The seniors who feel they are better than everyone else just because they are seniors.

The self-acclimated nerd who is super cool, doesn't fit into the 'status quo', and doesn't care what other people think.

The couple in the hallways that everyone gets tired of because they spend every moment together, not realizing that their next class is only 50 minutes long, not a century...

The party girl who you like being friends with, but usually can't be serious around because she's SO CRAZY, but she has good stories.

The gossiper who hears one story at the beginning of the school day, and tells everyone a different story by the end.

The person who can be friends with anyone. Everyone loves her/him, because how can you not?

The person who has WAY too much school spirit.

and last but not least, the crush to end all crushes who left you crushed.

How did I do? Have you met any of these people?

Are you one of them?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
