A few things that go unnoticed.

The Importance of Literature

One of the biggest things that humans all over the world take for granted and underappreciate is the importance of literature. This can range from books, essays, articles, speeches, poems, or anything along those lines. We would be nowhere if it were not for literature or reading and writing. Before technology existed, we relied on letters as forms of communication. These letters, also forms of literature, helped humans get to where they are today. Also, some people take the ability to read and write for advantage. Millions of people across the country do not have the ability to learn how to read and write and that is all they want to do in life while other people are taking it for advantage. Here are a few reasons why literature is important in today's society:

1. It will expand your vocabulary.

The more words we are exposed to, the more words we will use while writing and speaking. Also, the more times we are exposed to unfamiliar words, the more likely we are to understand them, therefore we are more likely to use them in our every day vocabulary. Expanding your vocabulary can not only help with sophistication, it can also help in the professional world as well.

2. The more you read, the more creative and imaginative you will be.

Our creative ideas are sometimes based off of stories we have heard in the past. The more stories we read, the more likely we are to use these events as inspirations for our own stories and imagination. There is nothing wrong with having a little creativity in our lives.

3. Grammar is everything.

Literature is so important because of the need for grammar. Without grammar, no writings would make sense to the readers. Also, grammar is very important in the professional world. If we expose ourselves to more writings, the more grammar we will see and the more likely we are to understand these grammar rules which will lead us to using them in our own professional writings such as resumes.

4. Literature helps us understand our past.

The only form of written communication before technology was through letters and documents. Without these forms of literature, we would have no idea what truly happened in the past. Reading about the past is very important because of the need to know where we came from and how not to make the same mistakes in the future.

5. Believe it or not, you read and write almost every day of your life.

Texts, emails, and tweets are all forms of primary resources that can be considered literature. Billions of people do these things every single day without really thinking about the importance of literature. If they never read books or wrote essays, they would not be so advanced at writing these simple things either. We also read simple things such as signs or menus constantly without taking into consideration that without the ability to read, we would not be able to live easily and this is why we all need to learn the importance of literature in our every day lives.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
