The Importance Of Justin Bieber

How a small town kid can change the world

The Importance Of Justin Bieber

I know a good majority of the population wants so badly to hate Justin Bieber, but you just can't. The kid is talented. He has a good heart. He comes from literally nothing. And he does everything he can to give back to his fans and the less fortunate. I'm proud to be a Belieber of nearly eight years (and counting). I've met so many of my best friends through the Bieber Twitterverse back in 2009-2012 and from concerts, album buyouts, and meet-and-greets. He's affected so many people's lives for the better. Here's a list of things that are flat out great about the Biebz.

1. His voice

Through puberty and voice changes, he's continued to keep his flawless croon intact. From "One Time," to "Baby," to "As Long As You Love Me," his songs are always hits and never fail to amaze. If you're needing proof of how talented he really is, watch his latest performance of "What Do You Mean" on The Jimmy Fallon Show.

2. His looks

We all thought he was the hottest thing when he was 16 and scrawny with a bowl cut. But my, has he grown. That jawline, that hair, that body, those tattoos, his bright brown eyes, his little button nose. You can tell I'm super partial to his appearance. He gets better and better looking by the day.

3. He cares

There's never been a celebrity who's so fan-driven. He thrives among his fans. He aspires to be a better performer and person for us. He always stops for fans when he can and takes the time to really listen. So many singers and actors could care less about their fan base, when the fans are the reason a celebrity exists. Bieber sends down hot chocolate and pizza to fans waiting outside his hotel or concert venue when it's been a long day or it's super cold outside. He's granted the most Make-A-Wish grants ever, by anyone. He cares and that to me is admirable.

4. He wants to help.

Bieber is the second biggest celebrity charity donor ever! There are celebrities that make far more money than him, yet do the least they possibly can for those less fortunate while still getting by. Bieber built an entire school in Guatemala. He took a solid chunk of time out of his life to visit this developing country and paid to build an entire school. The expressions on the kids faces were priceless. They had no idea who he was or what his status was, but what they did know is that he has a big heart and he was there to give them an education.

5. He started from the bottom

People love to ridicule the choices Bieber has made in the past year or so, as if he wasn't a 19-20 year old boy who was famous during his prime teenage years. He didn't get to experience high school, the time when most teenage boys are fools. Yes, he made mistakes (which honestly weren't that bad), like smoking weed and driving a little too fast. But the boys I went to school with were worse. They just weren't under the flash of a camera for every second of their life. And through his mistakes, he was also still helping so many people. He grew up with a single teenage mom who had to go to soup kitchens in order to keep him fed. He's from a small town of 30,000 people, and happened to be pulled into a crazy lifestyle. He's kind, he's smart, he's caring and he's talented. I don't know what more you could ask for from a 21-year-old boy.

Here's to you, JB. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
