Ah, the Halloween season. The perfect time for spooky costumes, tons of candy and a new binge-worthy horror series. It's true, Halloween has brought us some of our favorites from "American Horror Story" to "Stranger Things." But it's time to make room for the new kid on the block, Netflix's "The Haunting of Hill House."

If you're still on the fence about Netflix's new horror series, you're probably a fool, but here are 5 reasons to give it a shot.

1. The casting.

Film Set

Very rarely do people cast as siblings convince me in any way, shape or form that they're actually siblings. With the exception of this show. The actors cast to play the Caine kids, both present and past, look eerily similar. Not to mention the kid actors are so talented they manage to steal most of the scenes and leave the viewer yearning for another flashback.

2. The set design.

Nothing sets the tone for a horror series like its set design. This series is triumphant in setting the perfect scene across a variety of sets, time periods and cities. In both scenes from the past at Hill House in its prime, to the modern-day scenes of the Caine kids in their respective homes, the sets feel real and really throw you into the scene while managing to set the perfect tone for some scares.

3. The premise.

Storytelling

What I like most about Hill House is definitely the mystery and sense of a greater lore beneath the surface. What you imagine to be a simple haunting a la "Paranormal Activity" turns out to be a little less cut and dry as the series progresses. Not to mention the jump scares are incredibly well done and even if you see them coming, you're still bound to be a little more than creeped out.

4. The lighting.

Film Set

As a big horror fan, one of my biggest pet peeves is how damn dark everything always is. I get it, the dark is spookier, but it's also impossible to fucking see! Hill House manages to maintain its incredible creep factor without sacrificing great lighting. Everything in the scene is always clearly visible and honestly somehow ends up making everything just a little bit spookier.

5. The effects.

Killer Clown

In an entertainment world saturated with computer-generated effects, Hill House finds a healthy union between CGI and practical effects. From dead bodies (spoiler?) to tiny baby kittens, the show manages to follow up the reality of their set design with spooky effects that rarely feel out of place. If you're a sucker for practical effects/horror nerd like me, you're bound to love this new addition to the genre.

So there you have it, folks! Whether you're looking for something to get you into the Halloween spirit or just sick of watching "The Office" for the thousandth time (just kidding I'll never be sick of Michael Scott), there are your 5 reasons to stop crying about the fact that there is no new season of "Stranger Things" and check out Netflix's "The Haunting Of Hill House."

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
