Regardless of the many hateful diarrhea rumors circulating campus, Glen dining hall is definitely the most underrated eatery at Towson. Yes, there may be a two-week period that your stomach hates you and growls rather loudly, but after the initial acclimation, things can only get better.
The Convenience
If you live in The Towers, Glen Dining Hall is ultra convenient. Walk maybe 30 seconds out your door and food is ready and there for the taking. When my legs are sore and my belly is hungry I couldn’t be happier to swipe my card at Glen.
The Staff
When compared to the other places to eat at Towson, Glen is by far the friendliest. The staff is happy to give you an extra serving or go to the back to get an avocado for your weird tuna and turkey sandwich (oops). Chat them up and you’ll usually be met with a big smile and a goofy joke.
Regular Variation
They are always changing things up. Whenever I go in for a meal I am always surprised by a new dish to try. They have a salad bar, a sandwich station, make your own pizza, and a bomb ice cream machine that’s open during breakfast (sorry Newell)
Short Lines
The infamy of the Glen keeps lines short. All the traffic is mostly directed to Suq, Ptux, and Paws, so I can get in and out without my arms burning and my patience thinning from extensive tray holding
.
An Excellent View
If you sit near the window the view of the green trees and running stream in the Glen Woods makes for beautiful scenery. It’s nice to sit and eat your pizza, type on your mac book air and pretend that you’re deep within nature.
A Good Study Zone
Usually there’s no music playing and it’s a prime place to study. With most of the tables being empty you don’t have to feel guilty about tapping your pencil and spreading your books out.
The Store
Yes, as you’ve probably noticed it gets crazy on Thursdays. But, on any normal weekday when everyone and their mother aren’t trying to desperately spend every last meal point, it’s actually a calm, nice place that has lots of options and halfway decent prices, not to mention all the candy.
Overall, A Quality Establishment
The Glen has good options and a bad reputation. if you choose your food carefully and don't eat the cold pizza, you'll be just fine with a quick and decent meal.
