Girl Code 101

To educate girls who don't understand what 'the girl code' is

it seems to me that nowadays girls aren't aware of the “girl code”. hell MTV even had a show called Girl Code, so why aren't y'all educated? I actually miss MTV’s Girl Code because it gave me the answers I was looking for, and the girls never held back. I decided to ask my closest group of gal pals and asked them what they think should be a part of the girl code, and this is what we came up with:

1. Going out on dates

if I'm out on a date and I text you saying, “please call me and pretend you're in jail and I need to bail you out because I need OUT of this awkward date!!” you better call me.

2. Sharing is caring!

My closet is your closet. And vice versa.

3. Boys who are "off limits"

Any guy we've dated and/or had a fling with is OFF LIMITS. there are literally no exceptions to this. if you're really my friend, you won't be running after my sloppy seconds. to be honest, if any of my “friends” hooked up with one of my ex’s, you just executed our friendship. no ifs, ands, or buts.

4. You scratch my back, I scratch yours.

Be the best wing-woman you can be!!

5. If I'm drunk...

if I'm drunk and decide to drunk text one of my ex's, you're the one who takes my phone away and says,”mmm nope. not today Satan.” and I'll be forever grateful the next morning. damn you tequila. and vice versa.

6. Best friends or lovers?

pretend to be lesbian lovers if a creepy guy at the bar just doesn't get the hint that you're not interested.

7. Do I keep him, or?

be honest about the guy I'm seeing. if you don't get a good vibe, TELL ME. if you think I can do better, TELL ME.

8. Chicks before dicks.

No explanation needed.

9. Don't get caught up with your man.

when you get into a relationship, don't you dare forget about your girls. because if you cut everyone off and then the relationship fails, who's going to be there for you?????

10. Honesty is key.

we need to be honest with each other from, “does this dress make me look fat?” to “should I be drinking right now?”

11. True Life: I'm obsessed with my friends.

if you aren't obsessed with your friends, then what are you even doing?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
