As the first week of second semester comes to a close, I would like to reflect on how this week went. I reflect on the successes and the struggles and praise God that the week is over. As I sit here and jot my thoughts down, I realized that my feelings towards this first week can best be described by two of my favorite people: Sam and Dean Winchester.

1.

The drive down here was pretty fun! I was so full of life and excited to start another semester...and now I am ready to lay in bed for the rest of my life.

2.

The first day of caf food is always the worst. You sit there angrily eating soggy fries and greasy pizza while thinking about the month of home cooked for you just had. I would love to say it gets better, but the only thing that changes is instead of anger, you head into the caf with depression.

3.

It is the first day of class and you finally receive your syllabus and well lets just say that I am with Dean on this one.

4.

The teacher goes over the syllabus and just when you think it can't get any worse...they start to lecture. This is the exact face I have 2 hours after my Spanish class and I think my face will be frozen like this all semester.

5.

You made it through your first day! You go back to your dorm and propel yourself onto your bed and wait for your roommate to arrive. Once they do, they ask you how your day was. Since it is too early in the semester for a therapist, they are doomed to hear every detail about your day, but thats okay because 2 hours later when you are finally done, they get to tell you about theirs. That is the real reason college has roommates.

6.

So your roommate has become your therapist, it is week one and you are already crying, and you are already debating whether college is worth it. It is probably time to go to your next plan whether that is plan A or plan Z. Just remember, the average college students changes their major 6 times (or something like that). I am currently on number 2 and I am hoping for the best.

7.

Even though we survived our first week, we still have 14 more weeks to finish the semester and even more to finish our degree. So I suggest instead of crying all day about the week ahead, get on Netflix and watch Supernatural to fill your heart with joy!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
