There are so many things in life that we never try. Whether it is because we are too scared, or we never allow ourselves to have an opportunity to try these things. And as we grow older we slowly take less chances, we lose the bravery we had as children. We want to do so many things, travel the world, meet new people, take chances, and yet we can barely try a new restaurant on the weekends.
Life is an experience, not a journey. There is no set start point and end point. The only true end point is death, and between the time we are born and our end point we can do whatever our heart desires. We can become astronauts or race car drivers; we can live in a cabin in the middle of the woods or in an apartment in the middle of a busy city. We can be and do whatever we want, but we never seem to explore what we truly want.
We get into our groove in life and just stick there; comfortable, safe, and content. We get so comfortable with what is going on around us that we do not realize how much life and experiences we are missing out on.
We grow older and we lose our lust for life, our desire to try new things and take risks. We settle down and get a job and live every day the same, we are put on repeat without even thinking about it, with no concern that we are wasting our days, one by one.
Now, it is not a bad thing to settle down with a well paying job, start a family with someone you love and live the rest of your life working to support them, but before you do this you must take in the world, do things you have always wanted to do, make mistakes, feel love and pain and hurt and happiness, and never once regret a single moment of your life.
After you graduate college, if you still haven’t found your dream job, move. Pack up and move somewhere you have always wanted to go. Move somewhere your old friends live or a sibling. Try something new and meet new people. Do something that scares you, do something new and exciting. And if it doesn’t work out, fix it.
Travel for a few months with one of your buddies; meet people, talk to locals, learn about different cultures and let it impact your life in every way. There is no harm is learning, there is no harm in experiencing the way others live; if anything it’ll make you love your life more or change your life so you love it more.
This world is so beautiful and inspiring. There are so many things to do, places to see, and people to meet. We get so stuck in our own little world that we do not even realize how much life we have left to live, how many experiences we could be experiencing, and how many memories we could be making.
Say yes to the next invite you get that you are not sure about. It may be the most fun you have in a while. Book vacations with friends; attend concerts to bands you have never heard of. Find new places in your own town and explore what you think you already know.
There are too many days we spend on the couch, too many moments we let pass us by. There needs to be a break in the system and we need to get out of our comfort zones. Only then can we truly experience life the way it was intended to be experienced.
