The end is here... for "American Idol," that is. This show lasted 15 seasons and brought some amazing talent to the music industry. Although its popularity has faded in recent seasons, it still will go down in history as being one of the biggest talent competitions America has ever produced. It is sad to see the show go, but America is thankful for the talent this show gave us. Here are some of the amazing winners it gave us:
1. Kelly Clarkson (Season 1)
"American Idol" sure started off with a bang with her as their season 1 winner. She is easily one of the most famous winners of "American Idol." Her hit "A Moment Like This" broke The Beatles' record for biggest jump on the Billboard Top 100. America can't get enough of her fun-loving spirit. She has had three number ones on the Billboard Hot 100 chart: "My Life Would Suck Without You," "A Moment Like This," and "Stronger."
2. Carrie Underwood (Season 4)
Without a doubt, the most famous American Idol. She is the most successful American Idol as well, with over 14 million albums sold. Her beautiful voice and sweet personality have won America over. She is considered THE American Idol by so many. Her song "Inside Your Heaven" was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
3. Jordin Sparks (Season 6)
Who hasn't jammed to her hit single "No Air?" This was the song for couples in middle school. So many of us tried so hard to match Spark's amazing range. She has won many awards in the music industry and recently teamed up with Thomas Rhett for a duet. "Tattoo" is her highest single in the Billboard Hot 100, earning a number eight spot.
4. Scotty McCreery (Season 10)
Just a good ol' North Carolina boy who shocked us all with his deep southern drawl and his charming personality. Not to mention he attends the best school ever, NC State. (Go Pack!) His most popular song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart was "I Love You This Big" at number eleven.
5. Phillip Phillips (Season 11)
He might not be as famous as the other ones, but his single "Home" is a hit. "Home" has sold the most of any other coronation song from American Idol. It was number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Honorable Mentions: these contestants did not win, but still hold a place in America's heart.

Jennifer Hudson; only Idol contestant to win an Academy Award and a Grammy.
Chris Daughtry
Kellie Pickler
David Archuleta
Adam Lambert
Lauren Alaina
"American Idol" was so popular because it made average Americans into hit-single singers. Admit it, you probably dreamed you would become the next American Idol. I am still mad I missed my chance....
