As The End Draws Near

It goes by in the blink of an eye!

As The End Draws Near
msecnd

Everybody told you to enjoy it because it would go by in the blink of an eye. We all heard it countless times, and from countless people. Freshman year came, but it seemed like any other year. The school days dragged on a little too long, and the weekends always seemed too short.

Sophomore year was kind of the same story. September went by especially slow, and October and November were nothing special, but then suddenly you realized it was December, and before you knew it, you were finishing up the first semester. The second half of the year was a bit of a blur, but nothing had prepared you for the realization that these four years were half over.

You were no longer an underclassman, but still, not the big man on campus, yet everything seemed so strange. Junior year was jam packed with exams, test prep, and the constant need to figure out what comes next.

Before you could even stop to catch your breath, you became a Senior. You were finally the big man on campus; you ruled the school. This is when the panic set it. It went from being the first day of school to midterms in a flash, and no matter how hard you try, time doesn't slow down, it actually seems to speed up.

We've all been there. We've all heard the classic line "it will go by in the blink of an eye," and we've all rolled our eyes because until you go through it, it's simply impossible to understand or believe.

As we embark on the second half of our senior year, I encourage everybody to take a minute and look back at where we started. Look back to the person you were the first day of freshman year, and realize how much you've grown. I can promise you, no matter what, you are not that person anymore. Take a second to look back at who you were at the beginning of this year, I guarantee that you are not the same person you were in September.

As we experience this final semester, don't hold on too tightly or wish it all away. Enjoy every moment, because the truth is, as we've grown to see true, it goes by in the blink of an eye.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
