Last year many gamers flocked to their phones with the exciting release of Pokemon GO after delays and app testing. However because of the many glitches and problems that the app had, its popularity didn't last long. This year, though, it made a comeback.
Earlier this year Pokemon GO updated to include Generation 2 of Pokemon. This now includes Pokemon found in the games Heart Gold and Soul Silver. The game's popularity returned but slowly seems to be fading away once again.
Nintendo's leap to mobile games hasn't been easy especially since they're games usually have some major drawback to them. For example their second app, Super Mario Run had one major drawback.
People could open the app and play the game but they wouldn't be able to get very far. The game uses the model that many apps do now, endless running. Though this game uses this simple format it also institutes the standard Super Mario game difficulty of levels and worlds.
The main problem with the game is that that it basically acts as a tutorial. The only way to place the entire game is to pay for the World 1 castle you cannot unlock the rest of the game. Unless you are willing to pay $9.99; enjoy Levels 1-1, Level 1-2, and Level 1-3.
Now there is a new Pokémon App that is reaching popularity levels similar to Pokémon GO when it was first released. The game is Pokémon DUEL.
In this game, you are not a trainer but a dueler in a PFG, Pokémon Figure Game, tournament competing against different players that have Pokémon Figures; which are statuettes of Pokémon that know specific moves that Pokemon is known for.
The game is somewhat like chess in which players are required to have both skill and maybe a bit of luck. Pokémon in this game are figures and you battle players on a board game like table. The object is to get to the other player's goal before they get to yours.
Now the games have two modes in which people can play. The first is "Quests" which presents a standard Pokémon story-oriented style. In this version of the game you go against the different hotel staffs on Carmonte Island.
The other mode which is Battle mode allows players to go head to head with a randomly selected player. As you play you can earn different Pokémon figures and other items that heal Pokémon when dueling.
Even though this game isn't the same as the classic Pokémon we all have come to know and love; it's has been met with lukewarm enthusiasm. For now, the game is averaging three and a half a stars on Apple's App Store with Pokemon GO averaging three stars as well.
Super Mario Run is an app that many people were indifferent towards due to the whole paying ten dollars issue. Some people said go for it while other felt it was a waste of money especially when the app can be finished in one day; if you have the time. Nintendo's apps are working well though, they can still use just a bit of work to make them as popular a they once were
