Barcelona is known for its many tourist attractions that we all know of. From the Sagrada Familia to Park Guell, every tourist ensures they see the top sights. This past week I was able to experience first hand what the beauty of Barcelona really was.
As I embarked from the states, I was not sure what I was getting myself into. All I knew was that I had a place to stay, which was the most important aspect of my entire trip. About 8 hours later, I landed in the extraordinary city of Barcelona. As I got off the plane, I had no idea where I was going. My sister and I were at a total loss. Thankfully, my cousin came to the rescue and guided us on how to get on the bus.
Once we got into the city, our first stop was our place of stay. As we got into the building, dragging our 50lbs bags up the stairs was interesting. Then going into the elevator was even more of a sight; with our bags being huge and the elevator being out of date, we had to one by one send ourselves up to the third floor of the building.
Now with the jet lag kicking in, it was time to eat, drink and explore! We got ready for the day and headed off into the city. First stop was Las Ramblas street, a street of delicious foods, souvenirs, and true culture. Just a heads up, if you ever go to Barcelona make sure to hold your bags tight because pit pocketers are waiting to snap the next thing they see!
As we ventured through the street we found our way to the beach. Being that it was a bit chilly outside, it wasn't the perfect tanning weather, but I can easily say it was just right to take a nice walk down the breezeway. Taking in all of Barcelona step-by-step can tend to be overwhelming but there is a beauty that lies within.
Nice walks on the beach, we all tend to love, but clubbing is something us college students also love. Going out in Barcelona isn't like anything I have ever experienced. I can easily say, if you haven't partied in Barcelona you are truly missing out. Nightlife is always popping no matter where you go especially since being legal is +18, so getting a drink is not a worry (other than the expense).
To go off the expense of being a foreigner in Europe itself, it is a lot to handle. Since the American dollar isn't looking too good compared to a euro, us Americans tend to spend way more than the usual as we visit other countries. This is a reason as to why being cautious when you are out spending money is very important because something that is 5 euros is way more than just 5 dollars.
This fear of breaking your bank account or leaving it dry definitely plays in a factor of what you do throughout your time in Barcelona. Being that the city is so large in size, seeing everything or doing every activity in just a week is near to impossible. So as you go from place to place, walk miles on end and use public transportation because you will always see something new that catches your eye. It could be a place of stay, restaurant, bar or club, you name it! Barcelona has it all, which is the beauty that lies within the city.
