ABC continues to captivate millions every Monday night with two hours of drama, love and pure insanity. "The Bachelorette" draws you in with one beautiful woman surrounded by the "most eligible" bachelors fighting for her heart. Although the thought seems like a dream and you wish you could be in Jojo Flecher's, this current season's bachelorette, place, it is not ideal — all Prince Charmings and white horses.
Jojo's story started with Ben Higgins in the last Bachelor season. She made it as the runner up; and of course you would normally think, no big deal, there is always going to be a runner up. Jojo was in a unique situation, fighting one last women for Ben's hand in marriage (Ben had spoken of his love for her). This is a very rare and unheard of situation, unlike that of the past seasons. Long story short, Fletcher was left blind-sided and broken-hearted at the end, having expected a proposal. Luckily, her love story does not end there as she won over America's heart and became this season's Bachelorette. So, here I am to explain my take on both the pretty and the ugly associated with the reality show.
Although this is arguably one of the ugliest, worst dramas you will ever see, you may not be able to resist watching it. Most people tend to think that the Bachelor features more drama since there are 28 women living under one roof. But the truth is that the overload of testosterone with the men tends to have a greater effect. There is not only verbal hate often, but also violence and threats. The men this season seem to have such a range in personality that clashes appear irresolvable. They range from the tough and no "BS" to the docile (like Wells, who could not hurt a fly and likes to stay out of the drama). The fact that there is a security guard surveilling the mansion, that people are thrown into the pool, and the involvement of blood demonstrates how far these men are willing to go to eliminate the competition. There is also always the ugly truth that not all the men are there to marry Jojo. It is no secret that the next Bachelor will, most likely, be chosen from the men on this season's Bachelorette. I have not yet discovered evidence that these men ultimately want fame, but past season's men have often sought the limelight at the cost of a broken heart. With that said, there will only be one, hopefully the one, to be with Jojo at the end of the show.
Despite the dramatic and emotional roller coaster throughout the season, there is still hope of love and a happy ending for a couple. The show is not only entertaining due to the drama and fighting, but it is interesting because it follows a relationship. Although not every couple on this show has remained fixed, there are some that result in a successful marriage. The show in some way offers hope that if these crazy people can do it, maybe I can too. The fun of it all, of course, comes from placing bets against family and friends on who she will pick. My bet is on James or Jordan right now, but we will need to wait (this show airs every Monday night) and see.
