My first semester of college has been quite the wild ride. Throughout figuring my way around campus, meeting new friends and forming great connections, there is one thing that always reminds me of home and made my transition easier: ordering packages.

Here on campus, aside from the shipping notification from the store we order from, we also get MyDRL notifications. MyDRL is the email notification that I get each time I receive a package, these emails make me feel many things, but most of the time they brighten my day and make it instantly better despite any craziness going on. The list below is meant to enlight all of you about the benefits of being addicted to MyDRL and explains the stages of waiting for a package.

1. The feeling when you get that shipping confirmation email

The satisfaction is unparalleled.

2. Imagining all of the ways this package will make your life infinitely better

Whether the package is something as exciting as an article of clothing or a box full of water bottles, you are in for a treat no matter what.

3. When you have a bad day, it is important to focus on the positive

The delivery needs to come so you can go from this:

4. Knowing full well that the package has not yet arrived, but checking the tracking number provided 50+ times anyway

Oh well.

5. Waking up in the morning and saying a silent prayer that today is the day

It's all about to happen.

6. Giving up hope entirely

At this point, I'm fully convinced it's never coming.

7. The finish line is near

Hope is restored and all joy will soon be restored.

8. Seeing is believing

The time to sprint to pick it up has FINALLY arrived.

9. THE moment of all moments

Walking back to my dorm with my new package is such an unbelievably fulfilling feeling.

Though this seems semi-ridiculous, getting a package really makes it feel like everything is going to be ok. If it seems like my world is crashing down, but I have a MyDRL notification in my inbox, I know I'm in for a good day.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
