In college, using GroupMe is a mode of survival. Whether you are in a Greek organization, A Cappella group, or just have a tight group of friends you like to keep in contact with, GroupMe is the way to go. Every person, however, uses GroupMe differently, and if you are a GroupMe user yourself, you should recognize the different types of people.
1. Big Brother
Everyone knows that one member of the GroupMe who never sends any messages, but reads all of them. They are always up-to-date on the gossip that was discussed the night before, but they show no signs of life in the conversation, ever.
2. The Instigator
Contrary to Big Brother, The Instigator not only sees every message, but feels the need to respond to every single one and stir the pot. If two people are disagreeing on something, the instigator picks a side and shows it. Not only are they immediately involved in the argument, but they usually make said argument much more heated than it would have been.
3. The Peace-Maker
Whether by sending funny pictures, or quoting the ever-popular "Mean Girls" line, "I wish we could all get along like we used to in middle school," the Peace-Maker takes all measures to halt the drama the Instigator has started.
4. The Question Master
The name pretty much says it all. The question master asks a ton of questions, some of which could be answered simply by typing them into Google. Ranging from "Is it cold out today?" to "random question but did Khloe and Lamar get back together?" The Question Master is relentlessly curious.
5. Needy
Every group chat has that one person who is constantly in need of some sort of assistance. Whether it's a ride to class/the grocery store, or even asking to borrow a top for the night, the requests never stop pouring in.
6. The Mute
Sometimes you wonder why this person is even in the GroupMe. Since day one, their notifications have been off and they have not once responded to a single message. What's the point?
7. Positive Reinforcer
Regardless of what is being said, this person will respond within minutes. If you post a picture, write a message, ask a question, they will like it. This person is like an instant self-esteem booster because you never feel ignored, but it's almost mind-blowing that they haven't used all their data yet.
8. The Meme Queen
Have a funny picture of you lying on the frat floor from last night? You better believe it will turn into a perfectly constructed meme for everyone to laugh at the next day.
As much as you may believe otherwise, if you use GroupMe, you definitely fall into one of these categories. But hey, if you have a constant urge to click the little red heart, don't fight it, embrace it.
