Season 4 of "Orange is the New Black" is now only two weeks away (17 days if we're being exact about it) and I'm still re-watching and re-living some of my favorite moments, especially some of the amazing, adorable friendships we've been blessed to see play out. These are my 15 personal favorite friendships of "Orange is The New Black" (up until Season 3, so potential spoilers ahead).
15. Cal and Larry
Though their friendship is kind of awkward and slightly forced, I think it does have some charm to it. Cal is very honest with Larry about everything and Larry seems to take all of his advice whole-heartedly. I kind of wish they were still hanging out.
14. Piper and Nicky
They don't interact as much as they should, but when they do, it's always a gem. Nicky was one of Piper's first friends and they enjoy and welcome each other's flaws and strengths.
13. Flaca and Maritza
These two get on my nerves more than most, but they've been there for each other since the very beginning. They're able to make fun of each other (and almost everyone else) and still come out strong.
12. Polly and Piper
I hate Polly. She's selfish and always complaining, which makes her the perfect best friend for pre-prison Piper. All of their flashback scenes are wonderful and show how great they WERE. I don't think they're compatible at all anymore, but it was great while it lasted.
11. Morello and Nicky
Though they're more of a romantic pair, Nicky has always been able to put aside her feelings to still hang out with Morello. And of course, Nicky was there for her when she found out Christopher was getting married. Their relationship is too sweet to leave off the list.
10. Nicky and Alex
I know Nicky had a crush on Alex, but their banter together was too funny. And they did honestly care for each other, especially when Alex broke down a couple of times. I can only hope we see more of them in the coming seasons.
9. Sophia and Sister Ingalls
Sophia came to Ingalls looking for hormones and found comfort, honesty, and a true friend. They're both precious characters, and I love seeing them together and confiding in each other.
8. Soso and Poussey
A new budding friendship that may turn into something more, Poussey was there for Soso when absolutely no one else was. They both understand each other's hardships and wear their hearts on theirs sleeves, making them a great pair, and I can't wait to see more of them.
7. Miss Rosa and Yusef
One of the most beautiful stories of Season 2, Miss Rosa and Yusef sat beside each other during chemo and hated each other...until she told him what a smooth criminal she used to be. Then, they developed a beautiful relationship that unfortunately ended when Yusef went into remission, but this was one of the highlights of the entire series for me.
6. Red and Piper
Red has softened over the years while Piper has toughened up, making them a wonderful pair. Their roommate relationship is just perfect and the little bits of advice they give each other are shining moments of the series.
5. Piper and Miss Claudette
Everyone loved Miss Claudette and wishes she would come back from max in a future season, and that's all due in part to her relationship with Piper. What started as hatred turned into begrudging respect turned into a sweet friendship that abruptly ended when Claudette attacked a guard. But their moments were amazing and I want more of them.
4. Big Boo and Pennsatucky
The most unlikely pair of the series, Tucky and Boo finally got together in Season 3 and have made for one of the best friendships on the show. They're funny together but they're also there for each other, and Boo would do anything for her friend. Something about their personalities just clicks, and I'm glad they're finally pals.
3. Crazy Eyes and Taystee
Taystee was more of a mom to Crazy Eyes for a while in Season 3, but they were finally able to meet each other on the same level to break down and accept the death of Vee. Since then, they're a great, adorable pair.
2. Yoga Jones and Piper, Janae and pretty much everyone else
Yoga Jones is a pure cinnamon roll, a true gem. She just fits so well with everyone. She was one of the first to comfort Piper in prison, she opened up to and developed a beautiful relationship with Janae. She has a perfect friendship with almost everyone she meets.
1. Taystee and Poussey
As if I could put any other pair at the top! The perfect best friends of the series, T and P have been through a lot together. They're hilarious, they're honest with each other, and they can practically read each other's minds (Have you seen them play charades)? Their amazing love and support of each other has always been and hopefully always will be a high point of Orange is the New Black.
