For many of us, coffee is a staple in our everyday lives. It's the liquid courage we need in the mornings to face the long day ahead and often times, the one we need to stay awake into the late hours of the night! Coffee This isn't just any old drink, my friends. It's a whole experience. SO much more goes into the perfect cup other than the flawless grind of beans: it takes the right baristas, the right aesthetics, the right atmosphere, and of course the right place for you. This list goes out to all my Dallasites! If you're from DFW, you already know the there's a unique coffee spot lurking behind every corner. Here are a few gems that top my personal list (in no particular order, of course):

1. Houndstooth Coffee

An Austin staple brought North to Dallas, this is the place you go for a serious cup of joe. For the baristas at Houndstooth, coffee is an art, from weighing their grinds to the exact timing of the brew. Check out their eclectic grinds and grab a Japanese iced coffee!

2. Ascension

This spot is a true work of art. With a full menu ranging ranging from everything including poached eggs, paninis and pork chops, this will become your new favourite weekend hang. The cappuccinos are also a solid choice!

3. The Wild Detectives

Located in the Bishop Arts District, this represents Dallas' artsiest neighborhood well. Built inside a converted house, this bookstore + coffeehouse offers a carefully curated selection books while brewing all your essential drinks. Come in for a book club event or poetry reading! But don't forget your camera, this place has serious instagame.

4. Roots Coffeehouse

This little shop holds a special place in my heart as my old high school stomping grounds. I'm a local (so I'm a bit biased) but this shop has some of the friendliest baristas around! Their seasonal menus are always fun, but definitely try their Honey Vanilla Latte, locally sourced Dude, Sweet Mocha, or house-made Kombucha (so hip).

5. Pearl Cup Coffee

The chances of you finding me here are pretty likely as my new regular spot! This little coffeehouse packs a punch in their coffee game with some seriously good lattes. The staff is friendly, the sandwiches are tasty and the outdoor seating is the perfect place to get your study on.

6. Fourteen Eighteen

Coming here is like going to your cool aunt's house, with plenty of seating on comfy mixed matched couches, seriously sweet baked goods (like chocolate pie!), and some strong joe. This shop is beyond aesthetically pleasing and has an old school charm that's irresistible.

7. Local Press + Brew

Whether juicing is your jam or you need a jolt of java, Local Press + Brew has the best of both worlds and is definitely a favourite of mine! They make their own nut milks which are sweetened with dates. The Nut Shaken Latte is crack, I swear. Grab a pal and make your way over to Oak Cliff because this place is a dime.

8. Avoca Coffee

Shoutout to all the Fort Worth natives! This coffeehouse has a serious snag with the locals, roasting their own organic beans and crafting out speciality drinks like the New Orleans style Cold Brew. Come for the ambience, stay for the people and take a bag of beans home with you!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
