25 Disney Classics That Any Self-Respecting Early 90s And Late 2000s Kids Should STILL Know
Walt Disney Pictures

Disney has been a household name for 95 years.

It captures our hearts with its heartwarming family values and its catchy beats you can sing along to. With the original Walt Disney opening his studio, he created a pop culture phenomenon that is still huge today. With its own theme parks, channels, and stores. We all love Disney, and most of us late 90s and early 2000s kids were raised on it.

Even though Disney is still big, it's quality of movies and Tv shows has been warped from its classic storylines full of morals and humor to storylines that are senseless and have no real theme. So, I've composed a list of twenty-five tv shows and movies that most, if not all, the late 90s and early 2000s should know along with a description. I invite you to relax, pull up a chair and enjoy!

1. The Parent Trap ( 1998 )

Starring: Lindsay Lohan & Dennis Quaid

A remake of the original movie made in 19611, this story is about two girls who are the complete opposite meeting at summer camp and figuring out that they are twins. It is clear from the beginning that they don't get along, but after spending time together, they learn the truth of why they never met. Wanting to meet the other parent, the two of them swap places, but the plan quickly shifts to trying to get their parents back together when their father gets engaged to an evil acting woman.

The movie is filled with pranks and scenes that make you laugh, but it also has the warmth and fuzziness of family. It even has the iconic role of an evil stepmother that many Disney movies have after Cinderella.

2. The Halloweentown Series ( 1998 )

Starring: Debbie Reynolds, Kimberly J. Brown, & Judith Hoag

Halloweentown is a series of four movies that are crucial to having a Halloween movie marathon Disney addition. It's a magical story about a world where Halloween is every day. They have goblins, ghost, ghouls, and witches. This world is thrown into the faces of teenager Marnie and her two young siblings after their grandmother visits. Curious about her grandmother's world, Marnie follows along, learning that something is taking the residents of Halloweentown. So, she and her siblings blindly jump into the battle to save the mysterious world.

The movie was so successful that they made three more, released in 2001, 2004, and 2006. It's filled with imagination and love that only a family would understand.

3. The Thirteenth Year ( 1999 )

Starring: Chez Starbuck

This movie is about a boy named Cody Griffin at the brink of adolescence. When he was a baby, his parents found him in the back of their boat, so they took him in. Now thirteen, Cody's body starts to change, and not in the way of a normal boy. He grows scales, fins, and he can breathe underwater. Something's fishy about the whole situation. In the end, he is still loved by his family, and he learns not to take anything for granted.

4. Even Stevens ( 2000-2003 )

Starring: Shia LaBeouf, Christy Carlson Romano, & Tom Virtue

Kicking off the TV shows, Even Stevens was the comical series about a boy trying to survive high school as well as aggravate his older sister. The show was only on for three years, but with its humor and spinoff movie, it soon became a favorite.

5. Lizzie Maguire ( 2001-2004 )

Starring: Hillary Duff

Lizzie Maguire is a young, kooky girl who has this little cartoon self. The show revolves around her life as she learns important life lessons while she navigates school, boys, and annoying, an evil master-minded brother.

Like Even Stevens, Lizzie also got her own movie, and that's when the song " The TIde is High" became famous.

6. The Proud Family ( 2001-2005 )

Starring: Kyla Pratt

This cartoon is based on the life of 14- year- old Penny Proud and her family. She faces the typical teenage problems but has help from her parents and grandmother. Although, her family is very crazy, causing her to face these problems in a very comical way.

The Proud Family also had their own movie. Also, the most memorable thing, I think, about the show is he overprotective, willing to do anything to stop her from growing up father.

7. Kim Possible ( 2002-2007 )

Starring: Christy Carlson Romano, Tahj Mowry, & Gary Cole

A cartoon about a teenage girl who fights supervillains with her best friend and his naked mole rat? One of the best shows of all time! Kim Possible and her best friend Ron Stoppable fight supervillains with the help of a cyber genius named Wade. But, when she isn't she has to face the typic pressures of family, school, and social life.

This show also had its own movie. The shows main focus may have been fighting evil people, but it had a lot of tones about fighting pure pressure.

8. Cadet Kelley ( 2002 )

Starring: Hillary Duff, Christy Carlson Romano, & Gary Cole

Kelley is a teenage girl living in NYC with her egocentric mother and her militaristic fiance. Kelley, being artistic and spunky like her father, she dreams about being like her dad who is always traveling and doing crazy things. But, when her mother decides to move on base, Kelley goes from sleeping in her loft to sleeping in the barracks. Through rivaling with her authority and learning what it means to be a cadet, she bonds with her new stepfather.

Cadet Kelley taught us that we are capable of doing anything we want; even turning into a military cadet from a pink princess.

9. That's So Raven ( 2003-2007 )

Starring: Raven Symone, Kyle Massey, & Annaleise van der Pol

Oh, snap! Raven Baxter is your average teenage girl, except that she has visions. She can see into the future, and she often tries to stop the bad things from happening, but she always makes it worse. Dragging her friends and family into the mess, she learns valuable lessons. She also makes killer disguising being a fashion diva.

They recently made a spin-off called Raven's Home, but nothing will beat the hilarious original.

10. Lilo & Stitch: The Series ( 2003-2006 )

Starring: Chris Sanders

We all know Ohana means family! And it's all thanks to Lilo and Stich. The series follows the movies, but it adds a new lesson in each episode as Lilo and Stitch catch escaped aliens from doing any harm. Throw in their odd family, and you have one heart-warming and funny show.

12. Phil of the Future ( 2004-2006 )

Starring: Raviv Ullman, Aly Michalka, & Brandom Mycheal Smith

What do you do when your 2121 time machine breaks when you go on vacation, and you are stuck in 2004? You try to fit in.

This show taught us that being honest and being yourself is the most important thing. Plus, Phill Diffy had a half robot for a mom, how cool is that!

13. The Suite Life of Zack and Cody ( 2005-2008 )

Starring: Dylan & Cole Sprouse, Ashley Tisdale, Brenda Song, Phil Lewis, and Kim Rhodes

Zack and Cody Martin are twins who live at the Tipton Hotel where their mother, Carrie, sings. Cody is smart and very sensitive while Zack is a very messy and rude boy. They are often in trouble and usually are accompanied by the hotel owner's brainless daughter, London, and the smart candy girl, Maddie. The show is about the boys navigating their life through the trouble and dodging Mr. Moseby, the strict hotel manager that the boys love to mess with.

The suite life series taught us a lot. It showed us that rich people and poor people could be friends ( London and Maddie ) and it taught us that having someone you can get into mischief with is awesome. Although only having three seasons, it became an automatic favorite.

14. Twitches ( 2005 )

Starring: Tia & Tamara Mowry

Another twin movie! It follows the lives of two girls that lost their parents at a young age. One was adopted by a wealthy couple, and the other a poor woman. On a chance run-in on their 21st birthday, they start to make things happen. They figure out that they are witches and that they're destined to face the darkness.

This movie taught the importance of trust in your family and friends. It's only then that you can begin to fix the issue.

All I have to say is: Go twitches! Go twitches! Go twitches!

15. High School Musical ( 2006 )

Starring: Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, & Corbin Bleu

Do I really need to go over this? I will though; we're all in this together.

Troy Bolton is the Wildcat basketball all-star, but when he is forced to sing some karaoke with a girl at some New Years party, it's the start of something new. When the said girl, Gabriella, transfers to his school, he is forced to face the status quo and decide if he wants to break whats expected from him and sing.

This movie became the buzz of the generation. Its catchy beats and a cute main couple, had all of us swooning. It even had two more movies!

16. Cowbelles ( 2006 )

Starring: Aly Michalka, AJ Michalka, & Michael Trevino

A movie about sisters that are spoiled and love shopping. After setting their house on fire by accident, their father sends them to work in the family's dairy factory in order to repay him for the damages. The girls are excited, but soon realize that everyone is hostile towards them. Then, the company takes a turn for the worst and the girls step up to try to save their father's factory.

Nothing like learning the lesson of respect.

17. Emporer's New School ( 2006-2008 )

Starring: Patrick Warburton & John Goodman

Kuzco is looking forward to becoming emperor, but he learns in order to obtain the status, he has to pass all of his classes at public school. He is soon kicked out of the royal palace and placed into a stranger's home, which is terrible for the self-centered Kuzco.

This cartoon series also had a movie, and it taught us about family and friendship.

18. Hannah Montana ( 2006-2011 )

Starring: Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jason Earles, Emily Osment, & Mitchell Musso

Everyone knows it's the best of both worlds! Miley Cyrus started with the role of Miley Stewart, a teenage girl who puts on a blonde wig at night and becomes the most popular fourteen-year-old in the world. She faces struggles with keeping her secret and living a normal life, but with the help of her friends and family, she makes it through. Her crazy life leads her to learn many lessons growing up. ]

It became so famous that they did make a movie. Now, you don't even need to watch Hannah Montana to recognize the songs.

19. Wizards of Waverly Place ( 2007-2012 )

Starring: Selena Gomez, Jake T. Austin, David Henrie, Gregg Sulkin, & Jennifer Stone

The Russo's own a sub shop on Waverly Place in NYC. The family may seem like the normal family, but they are actually wizards, Young Alex, Justin, and Max must learn how to use their magic before they can become a full wizard, Unfortunately, Alex is way more interested in causing mischief.

Alex often finds herself in situations that her brother, Justin, has to fix. Throughout the series, there is a heavy theme of family and friendship, but also the difference between right and wrong.

The series has two movies based on the show.

20. Phineas and Ferb ( 2007-2015 )

Starring: Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Vincent Martella, Ashley Tisdale, & Alyson Stoner

The cartoon is still so loved today. Phineas and Ferb are two brothers that have nothing to do for summer, so they put their inventive minds to work and build out of this world things, all the while their sister tries to get them caught. They build anything from rollercoasters to a race track. Even a beach in their own backyard! They even have a platypus named Perry that is a secret agent.

Phineas and Ferb taught us to dream big and use our imagination.

21. Cory in the House ( 2007-2008 )

Starring: Kyle Massey, Jason Dolley, & Madison Pettis

Cory in the House is a continuation of That's So Raven, but with her father and younger brother. Her father is given the job of being the president's cook. So, he takes Cory with him to the White House. There, Cory battles with the presidents' daughter, but he also makes some good friends. You put all four of them together, you have one full house.

Cory learns several lessons during the short series, but he learns the importance of being humble.

22. The Suite Life on Deck ( 2008-2011 )

Starring: Dylan & Cole Sprouse, Brenda Song, Debbie Ryan, & Phil Lewis

The viewers couldn't get enough of the suite life, so the creators made the spin-off. It follows the boys still, but this time, they are attending high school on the S.S. Tipton. There, they meet new people, all the while being able to annoy Mr. Moseby more. Much like living in the hotel, they learn a new lesson every week as they grow up.

They did make a movie.

23. Sonny with a Chance ( 2009-2011 )

Starring: Demi Lovato, Sterling Knight, & Brandon Mychael Smith

The goofy show is about a small Wisconsin girl, Sonny Monroe, landing a role on her favorite show. SHe's excited to be apart of it, but her excitement dwindles when she is met by hatred from her coworkers. Throw in a rival show and you have one big ball of comical relief.

In the end, Sonny learns how to navigate a new world.

24. Jonas ( 2009-2010 )

Starring: The Jonas Brothers & Chelsea Staub

Based on the Jonas Brothers, the show was about the boys learning how to fit in with normal teenagers as well as staying true to who they are as they climb up the charts. The show had a catchy tune and was always good for a laugh with Kevin's humor.

25. Good Luck Charlie ( 2010-2014 )

Starring: Bridget Mendler & Jason Dolley

Teddy is the smartest and most determined child in the Duncan family. She starts making videos for her little sister, Charlie, about their family, so that when she in college Charlie has something to help her deal with their crazy parents. While making the videos, Teddy also learns lessons while filming the videos, as well as the rest of her family.

They had a Christmas movie.

Disney used to be way more. It used to be about lessons with crazy character, and plots that made you laugh. It brought imagination and courage in children. I'm not saying that it doesn't now, but most of what's on Disney is just children being rude or doing stupid things. It has almost no real lesson.

The late 90s and early 2000s were the lucky ones.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

198159

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
