Let's be honest, not many of us sit and watch the debates with hope that something good will come out of it. Most of us watch the debate as a form of entertainment because, with all due respect, these debates are a circus and a full out joke. While many, like myself, have already stated that they will not vote in the upcoming elections we still like to be entertained by the circusclowns presidential and vice presidential candidates.

Perhaps we still have a little hope that something useful will come out of the debates. Yet it is not surprising that once again our hopes were shattered to pieces during the vice presidential debate. Once again illegal immigration and the oh so famous wall came up. However this time it was not from the lips of our beloved dear old Trump, it was from his V.P. Mike Pence who upon insistence of Tim Kaine in regards to past comments from Trump about Mexicans, blatantly responded "you've whipped out that Mexican thing again.” That Mexican thing… that thing where Trump said Mexico isn't sending it's "best" people? That Mexican thing… where Trump said Mexico was sending their criminals and rapists. But no big deal its just “that Mexican thing.”

Mike Pence’s comment sent social media on a rampage. Soon after, everyone was taking to social media to comment on what “that Mexican thing” truly is. “That Mexican thing” is sacrifice from each generation of Mexicans, it is more than a simple thing. Here are only some examples of what many were posting on social media.

#thatmexicanthing needs to stay alive so that we can demonstrate that we are important and that we matter. Without #thatmexicanthing we will be hiding from the fact that Trump and Pence have yet to acknowledge the hard work and sacrifice of immigrants who come to this country for a better life, for the American dream.

So let's keep #thatmexicanthing trending, let's show that our experiences, history, and ancestry are more than a simple thing.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
