6 Things To Thank Your Family For Right Now

Family: you can't live with them and you can't live without them. They're your biggest cheerleaders, a shoulder to cry on, and a friend when you can't seem to find one. They'll always be there, so here's to them.

1. Supporting you.

From going to all your games in high school to encouraging you on your latest exam or telling you to follow your dreams, your family will always be in your corner no matter what happens. They've always got your back, and you'll always have theirs.

2. Their hugs.

No matter how old you are, hugs from your family are the best. It reminds you that everything is going to be OK.

3. Their advice.

Whether you ask for it or not, I can guarantee you're going to get it. Instead of tuning it out, listen. Your parents (or older siblings) have been around a lot longer than you have (surprise), so you might just learn something if you pay attention.

4. Embarrassing you.

I know it's miserable, but they do it because they love you... Well, your parents do. I'm sure your siblings do it to flat out be mean at times if they're anything like mine. Either way, embrace it because everyone's parents do it! And just remember, you'll get to do the same to your kids one day.

5. Providing for you.

Whether they make it obvious or not, your family makes sacrifices for you everyday. Never take anything for granted. And be sure to thank them... A lot. Just because your mom offers to do your laundry doesn't mean she has to, you know.

5. The constant laughs.

Your family can make even the worse day better. Whether it be your dad dancing to music in the car or your mom telling you a story from your childhood, they always know how to make you laugh until your sides hurt.

6. Forgiving and forgetting.

Part of growing up is making mistakes. Your parents don't care what you did. What they are worried about is what you learned from it. And they'll always be there to help you pick up the pieces when you do mess up.

Now, give your parents and siblings a big hug and let them know how much they mean to you, even though they'll probably ask what you're wanting.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
