I know with Thanksgiving break coming up, y'all are not trying to think about classes and things of that nature.

However, the foods surrounding your dinner table are not much different from college majors.

1. Turkey: Pre-Med

Turkey is one of the most difficult foods to master, but so beneficial to the dinner. You can't have Thanksgiving without it. Pre-med majors are the same way. They don't have it easy at all, but without them, we'd all be screwed.

2. Stuffing: Science

Stuffing works great inside the turkey but it also has the strength to stand on its own. Science is the same way. It pairs well with medical majors but can be by itself.

3. Mac & Cheese: Nursing

Mac and cheese is a beautiful dish, full of love and heart. I look at nursing the same way. Nurses have to be nurturing and full of love.

4. Rolls: English

English is one of the best majors for sure. I've thought about making it mine plenty of times. Rolls are one of my favorite foods at Thanksgiving because of their warmth and softness. That is the same joy reading and writing brings me.

5. Sweet Potato Casserole: Education

There's a certain level of finesse and sweetness in this dish at Thanksgiving that reminds me of education majors. Teachers are serious, with a sweet and fluffy exterior.

6. Mashed Potatoes: Journalism

I'm biased on both of these things. They are both of my favorites on this list. Journalism majors get a lot of criticism, but I think the lumps are the best part.

7. Green Beans: Undeclared

Like undeclared majors, green beans don't really have a set place. Are they best with a little salt and butter, a can of cream of mushroom soup? Who knows. They're just as great as all the others who know what they're doing, they just haven't found their niche.

8. Cranberry Sauce: Art

Cranberry sauce is so pretty. It almost resembles paint. Art majors are authentic and know who they are. Cranberry, when done right, is a beautiful thing.

9. Corn: History

Thinking back to the first Thanksgiving, I just feel like they had corn. It's historic and a classic.

10. Pie: Engineering

The pies at Thanksgiving are so intricate and detailed. And like with engineering, there are so many different kinds of pie. There's mechanical, electrical, computer, civil, and environmental engineering. And there's apple, pumpkin, sweet potato, and chocolate cream. They're all great, and all super complex.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
