Thank You, Parents

Dear parents,

I love you very much. Thank you for everything you do for me. You are so great and wonderful and words will never be able to tell how appreciative I am for your love and kindness.

First of all, I would like to thank you for loving me through all of my up and down times. I have been a wild ride, I'm sure you remember. I can still be tough to deal with at times, but you always see me through it and help me out in the end. Thank you for putting up with all that are my mistakes and silliness.

Next, thank you for giving food and clothing and a roof to sleep under. I probably don't deserve for you to buy me nice clothes or for you to pay for the gas that goes in my car yet, you do it anyways. That is really wonderful and kind of you. Thank you.

Also, thank you for supporting me when even I didn't know why I was doing something. Remember softball? Yeah, thank you for coming to all my games even though I was literally put into the position where no balls would come near me because the coaches knew I wouldn't be able to catch them. Remember cheerleading? Thanks for supporting me even though you and I both knew that it wasn't the right thing for me. Thank you for letting me test the waters in many areas so that I could find my new passion. Thank you for attending all of my chorus concerts that you are able.

Another thing, thank you for always encouraging me no matter if you think I can do it or not. Thanks for knowing that if I thought that you thought I could do it I could do it. Thank you for pushing me to do my best no matter how difficult times got. Thank you for showing me that I can do pretty much anything if I really wanted to. I really appreciate it.

Thank you for raising me to respect people, to love people and to show them God's love. Thank you for raising me to become a Godly young woman. Thank you for keeping me in church since I was young. I will be eternally grateful that you have kept me close to God for most of my life. You guys are the best.

I love you guys so much. You have made me who I am today and my life would be crazy and dysfunctional without you. Thank you for always being a shoulder to cry on and loving me no matter how many mistakes I make. I'm so happy to have you and I would not trade you for the entire universe. Just remember no matter how angry I get with you or annoyed or upset or any of those other angsty teenager things, you will always be my go-to.

With all my love and respect,

Tori

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
