No matter what is going on in your life at any given moment, there is always much to be thankful for. No matter the struggles, the ups, the downs, the heartbreaks- we are all so blessed. Here are 5 things I am thankful for during this season of Thanksgiving.

My Family

“The love of a family is life's greatest blessing” -Unknown

Family is so important, and I am so incredibly thankful for the amazing people I get to call my family. On earth or in heaven, my family will always be my family. I am so beyond thankful for the years I got to spend with the ones who passed, and will remember them with all my heart this Thanksgiving. So happy God has blessed me with the people he did to be my family.

Opportunities

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” -Wayne Gretzky

This year I have been given so many amazing opportunities and am so blessed. The opportunities I have been given have helped me step out of my comfort zone and try new things. My faith has kept me strong and shown me that everything happens for a reason and to take every opportunity given to you with your best foot forward- you never know what great things could happen from one opportunity.

My Friends

“Friends are the family we choose for ourselves” -Edna Buchanan

That quote has never been more true. The year is not even over yet, and I can already tell you that this year God has blessed me with the best friends I could ask for. Not only my newer friends, but my old friends who have been with me through all these years and never let me down. So thankful and blessed for all my friendships, I don't know where I would be without them.

Kindness

“Do what makes you happy, be with who makes you smile, laugh as much as you breathe, and love as long as you live.” -Rachel Ann Nunes

Not everyone is going to be nice, and that's just how life is. While not everyone is a nice person, there are still so many that are. Whether you know everyone or no one, you can walk around and find something to put a smile on your face. This year I for sure have met some nasty people, but I also have learned how to find the good in everyone, which I am so thankful for. There is kindness all around you- you just have to look.

My Faith

“I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength” -Philippians 4:13

In a world full of ups and downs, highs and lows, it is so important to never lose faith. While there are many things that have happened this year that has made me question my faith, I am so thankful that I never lost it. Not only did I not lose it, but I depended on it. My faith has truly made even the darkest days beautiful, and nothing in this world can top that. So thankful to have God in my life.

Happy thanksgiving to all. Hope your thanksgivings are filled with love, blessings and thankfulness- no matter what you may be going through. Spread joy, and joy will come to you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
