Yes, I Had A Fangirl Phase. No, I Will Never Be Embarrassed By It

Yes, I Had A Fangirl Phase. No, I Will Never Be Embarrassed By It

If you didn't go through a fangirl era — I'm sorry for you. Let me tell you I'm so thankful I went through my fangirl era and here are the reasons why.

1. The friends.

The friends you make are unforgettable. For me — I made mostly Twitter friends (Hey Denise) and we did get the chance to meet in person. You meet people from everywhere, I have friends in Canada (Sup V), Philly (Hi Gia), New Jersey (Hi Shannon), and many other places. I actually go to school with two of the people I met at concerts, which is crazy. The inside jokes, the laughs, cries, screams, everything will never be forgotten because of them.

2. The concerts.

My absolute favorite part of being a fangirl is the concerts you get to experience and the all time happiness you feel. Concerts are my safe place and always have been. Whether it's backstage, far in the back, or front row it's the best feeling and place in the world.

3. The acts.

After a while of being fans of people, they start to remember you. This happened to me with the Nick Tangorra Band and I'm actually so happy to say how close I am with them. Will helped me with college, Nick helped me with my photography, Rafe helped me realize my love for Ferrer Rocher (yeah the chocolate), and Gus, Gus helped me with my happiness and always put a smile on his face no matter the situation.

4. The Commitment.

You learn a lot about your commitment when you're a fangirl. You are literally committing yourself to a family basically (I've been with mine for over three years now).

5. The help.

If you are close with a band or a group of people the amount of help they send you is crazy. Luckily for me, I got the best people to help me out in life. Nick helped me with getting my photography out there and Will helped me with college and relationships.

6. The memories.

Some of my best memories come from concerts and my fangirl era. From being known as my twitter handle, @strictlywilk, by many people, inside jokes with friends, dancing like idiots in the back of concerts with internet friends, and etc. I have memories I will never ever forget and it's all to thank because of my fangirl era.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
