For as long as I can remember music has always been there for me. Whether I am happy or sad or angry I have always been able to find a song that matched my mood. Music has helped me through the hard times and the good times. Music has given me memories I couldn't ever forget. When I was in fifth grade my mom brought me to a Matchbox Twenty concert. This must have started my punk/rock obsession because in ninth grade I began to listen to a band called Pierce the Veil and when I finally saw them in person in October of 2013 I think my life had changed. There are so many artists throughout my life that have made an impact on me and I wish I could send them an Edible Arrangement to thank them but they are just going to have to accept this article.
Drake, you are my all time hero. In seventh grade I heard your hit "Find Your Love" and I knew that I found my love and it was you. I can rap all of your songs and I balled my eyes out the first time I saw you in Boston. I have seen you five times with my mom and every time I leave your show I want to be a better person. I love your voice, your smile and the way you write music that is actually fun to sing along to. Thank you for the entire Take Care album because I am still obsessed with it. Thank you for making seventh grade me feel like a gangsta.
Now I have to thank the band that made me emo, Pierce the Veil. When I discovered your music I was in a whole new world. From only listening to radio music to listening to King For a Day I was completely shocked I have never heard anything so cool and different. I felt weird about liking it because some songs were pretty dark. Listening to your music introduced me to so many other bands. Thank you for showing me a new side of music.
Of all the bands I listen to Real Friends is my favorite. The emo pop-punk makes me feel like a "sad boy." Real Friends, thank you for writing music that I can relate to. From heartbreak to moving on you guys have helped me finally move on from toxic things in my life. Your songs make me feel like I am not alone and your shows are super fun. I brought my sister and my mom to see you guys and it was their first pop punk show ever. Yes, they were surprised on what goes on at pop punk shows. Thank you for telling me that if I never break I'll never know how to put myself back together.
I have one more pop punk band I have to thank and that is Neck Deep. Neck Deep, your music is so uplifting. You don't know this but your new album Life's Not Out To Get You came out during a really tough time in my life. I was moving into a new home, going to college, getting a new job and at this time, I found out something very unpleasant that broke my heart. I thought I was going to lose my mind. I listened to LNOTGY every day and Gold Steps still makes me cry because it reminds me that life isn't out to get me and somethings will bend me but I'll be fine. This album inspired my tattoo and I am so grateful for the positive music you create. Thank you for helping me get through a difficult time.
Lastly, I have one more band that has changed my life. Bring me the horizon, thank you for making me question everything. Your music is probably the most hardcore music I listen to. When I first started listening to you guys, I was a little scared. Your album Sempiternal is amazing but very, very powerful. It took me a few listens to grasp and accept what you are singing. I have seen you live maybe 3 or 4 times and every time I have stunned. I don't have the words to describe what your performances make me feel. You guys are so powerful and influential. I brought my sister to see you and she agrees that your shows make you feel incredible. I cannot say this about any other musician and I have been to at least 50 shows. Thank you for your new album That's the spirit and thank you for the song Drown.
When I talk or write about the music I care about it can get pretty lengthy. Music has made such a positive impact on my life and the people who have helped me along the way deserve so much more than being mentioned in my article. The best kind of music is music with a meaning. I would not be the person I am today without music.
